Michigan's trader joe's eggs don't sell fertile eggs so I'm trying whole foods fertile. If I don't get any hatches, I'll just call it a good science experiment and move on. But does anyone know where I can get some fertile silkie bantams? Hopefully I can get a hen that'll incubate for me.

"Medicated" means a niacin inhibitor, the eggs may have lower than normal niacin levels, which probably would only be important if you were going to hatch them.

Dr. Fulton "taught" a lot of us that on Saturday. I believe a lot of hands went up when he asked "how many of you don't use medicated feed cuz you think it has antibiotics, etc in it [sic]?" He then explained why it's so important to use the medicated feed...that's really not "medicated"!!

I didn't get to hear Dr Fulton so thank you for that information. I use medicated feed but now I know the "rest of story" on it.tIt's good to have all the facts! Thanks!

Boils down to semantics.....and misunderstandings spread by word of net...lol.
Sorry I'm a stickler for word use and especially labeling misinformation......always pays to read labels carefully and research for understanding. In this case Medicated Chick Starter is correctly labeled.

I had my 3 week old ducklings in the yard playing and one consumed one of these before I could stop him. Should I be concerned? Are they poisonus to ducks?

I don't know if it is poisonous or not, and I don't have ducks, But I would trust that they would not eat it if it were harmful, animals have good instincts when if comes to natural foods. stuff we leave around,
that is another story some times

As far as duckling, out up a sign at a Tractor Supply or FFH if you don't find any takers.

We live on a farm and we have wild cats. So between the kittens that are dogs find and people dropping them off we have 11 cats.
