Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I meant no disrespect. I understand the financial aspects as well. Sometimes peace is more of a motivator than money. It is for me, for sure. I hold only good thoughts for RaZ as it plays out.
oh, none taken...

Life is just too darn short to have to deal with a-hats like the ones Raz is dealing with.

No one should have to go through what RaZ is. It doesn't make sense. A (mostly) law abiding citizen being harrassed by power hungry idiots. RaZ is taking a stand and getting the backlash from that. RaZ isn't going to run away from this. I wish him the best and hope that it works out for him, somehow. There should be a way to turn in the judge and the other idiots.

I laugh when I see our FG/NZ mix babies.. they're all ears!
The doe I kept from the last litter (full FG) has ears almost as long as her body! BTW - I have a steel grey buck now...new breeding pair! She's 4 months old, the buck only 5 weeks old.

OK, I asked a few days ago and got missed. I have some 3 day old Calico (sweetwater) turkeys. Was wondering how long to table weight? I know at least two of you that raise these things - yes?

yes... but it will depend on what you feed and how much meat/fat you want on them.
I keep mine for breeding but on average they're about 10-18 mo old or older when I process them. But others say they can be ready in 5-6 months. I guess it depends on how big you want them and what you feed them.

I feed mine layer pellets, and will toss out a mix of cracked corn, barley and BOSS... along with watermelon, blueberries (any berries really) peaches.. anything that is getting over ripe... they will "gobble" it right up! They also get to free range too. I think there is a feeding schedule for readying a BB turkey for processing. I would say up their protein in take a month prior to processing.

hope that helped!

The yield of my garden has been exceptional. I add the chicken manure and wood shavings along with some AG lime during the winter and then till it in come spring. So far it has been working extremely well.
