upcycling...re-purposing....recycling.....that is what makes me happy

I can honestly say I have never seen a single episode, weird I know.
I have not either, and our last name is Simpson
This is an action shot of our cat, Lydia, busily stealing corn silk out of the trash and eating it as fast as she can. She helpfully pulls large amounts of the husks out, too, and chews on them. If you leave entire unhusked raw ears on the counter, she will husk them herself and eat the corn with great enthusiasm. We have to hide the corn in the microwave out of her reach until we are ready to cook it. (She has also broken into and snacked on bags of flour, pita bread, and cinnamon bread. She hasn't read the books that say cats are obligate carnivores).

She is a devil in a cat suit. Well, a cute devil.

(Oh, and just in case you have a theory about cats getting "addicted" to corn and carbs by being fed low-quality grain-based commercial cat food--okay, you probably don't, but I have been told this by the "experts" at the boutique pet store--Lydia has been on a grain-free, meat-based, high quality diet since she was a tiny kitten, and before that it was just her mama's milk. The only corn and wheat she's ever eaten is what she's stolen.

my neighbors cat steels veggies, tomatoes, carrots, beens, crazy what some animals will eat I guess someone forgot to tell them they don't like veggies
Snowflake, I think you took Dr. Fulton's class during Ag Week a couple years ago if I remember correctly, so you probably already know this. I took it this last March, and he said that to make the Marek's vaccine go further, you could divide the wafer into fourths and only rehydrate a quarter of it at a time, so use it for four different hatches. Would make it less expensive per hatch since each bottle makes so many doses and they have to be used right away after the wafer is dissolved. You'd want to be super careful to use aseptic technique when handling, dividing, and storing the remaining wafer and the remaining diluent, though.
yes, I do know that, it has taken me a while to find some one that sells the wafer, don't know why it has to be sent in a cooler, which adds to cost by about $30
It would be better if I can find someone close enough to go and pick it up

Oh man, what am I going to do? Kittens are ready to go and I have no homes or barns for them or Mama. Hubby comes home next weekend and they can't be here. He has no idea I rescued them.

I should have just told her no but they were going to kill them so I took them all including mom, who I believe has some Siamese in her. Very thin and regal looking. Reminds me of Quincy. RIP old boy.

They are 6 wks old and adorable but I can only keep one.
Any takers?

and their beautiful Mother, Eleanor.

I found one a lovely home with our family friend. They named him Glyphix. (A new chapter in her life) and he is very happy.
This would be my choice, But we already have a cat a very large dog and to many chickens

I know. I hate buying anything new anymore,it feels awful.

I have always been an avid collector and user of vintage and antique housewares, and LOVE flea markets and estate sales, I just love to re-use things that have history to them, and if I have to buy packaged stuff like foods in plastic or styrofoam it goes to recycling without a doubt, my tiny bit of help to keep this amazing planet of ours as beautiful as possible. There is too much wastage in the world by far

I would keep them as barn cats but I already have 3 and they are ok with the chickens. Don't want to tempt fate.

So I let my one "ugly" banty-mix sit on some eggs. What that heck.

I heard peeping and saw one silver baby, but while I was getting a picture I saw someone else peeking out....

Don't know if there are any more...I pulled one egg of 8 because it died. Maybe I'll get to clean tomorrow - I really don't want more chicks, but d*a*m*n* they are cute!

Figures.... Go to check at noon today and there was an egg there. Somebody must have popped it out right after I had done an egg check and set up their mealworm treat bottle.
