OMG!!!!
I just saw the "s" word in the forecast for later this upcoming week

noooooooooooooooooooo!

It's too early! Now that I think about it, I heard we were supposed to get a "significant ****fall in October" from a weatherman. We can only pray he is wrong.

One of the chores I tackled today was getting the pond ready for winter. I broke down the 2-stage filter to a single level and covered it all up to keep the leaves out. Part of the filter was an experiment in rooting some willow clones. In spring, I put a couple of cuttings in the filters to see how they would grow. One filled up a 5-gallon bucket and the other was quite a bit bigger with a massive root ball.

That got me thinking...I haven't heard from Daran (Farmerboy) in ages. Golden Willow is the name of his farm operation. Has anyone heard from him lately?
ETA. Pictures of the filter grown Golden willows (Salix sp. unknown cultivar)

I have always wanted a willow but everyone always tells me no you don't they'll tear up your septic system and they are so invasive. blah blah blah. I just want to sit under one with a book and watch the branches dance on the wind.

I saw just today 2 leftover stumps about 4 ft high that each had just regrown their branches into the most spectacular design no landscaper could replicate. They were like 4 houses apart but grew the same. So cool.

Nature finds a way.

The only "S"word that I want to see in the forecast is sunny. I've got too much work that needs to be done. I need to cover the chicken's run so that the birds will be able to use it. I still have much more wood to cut, split, and haul for my old friend. Plus I have two deer blinds that need to be rebuilt. A tornado that struck our woods turned two of my blinds over. They were both similar to this one.
The floor in 5x5' and the legs make it a little over 6' off the ground.. I've found the size to work extremely well as you can sit comfortably on an office swivel chair and not bump the wall when maneuvering your weapon. Also, two people can sit inside if necessary.

Ok. I apologize for bringing up the weather forecast. And, I forgot...last year we settled on "powdered sugar".

Oh...any Lions' fans..the game is on at 0930 this morn...they are in England playing the Falcons...weird to get to eat breakfast while watching the game. But, I like watching football & kind of wish more games were in the morn...gives the whole afternoon to then do stuff outside if it's nice!

Somehow I missed that consensus.

I love it.

Opa, I hope for your sake it holds off for a while. So much on your plate, so little time. But if I know you by reputation alone, you'll get it done and then some.

Our coop has been completely cleaned out and refilled with fresh shavings and PDZ.Wow, that was a lot of work. Phew.

I moved the cinder blocks and found a bunch of wet shavings inside the holes. So that is where the wetness was coming from. I couldn't figure out how or why it smelled wet when everything was dry. Apparently, when I changed to the nipple waterers I missed the wet stuff from the old waterer getting dumped behind the block.

I'm so impressed my flooring choice of rubberized roof coating is working like a charm. Thank you, @JackE . I didn't even have to scrape the floor. Nothing stuck to it.

All that's left is plastic 2 sides of the run and figure out a roof option for snow load.

It seems like dosing my ladies was what at least one of them needed. I got my first egg in three weeks yesterday.

It might just be coincidence, and not the meds, but I'm happy.

All too funny. I began college at UofM-Dearborn and we were ridiculed by A2 as a "commuter college". Graduated from EMU as a Huron. Then a MS as an Eagle. Throw in a couple of certificates from MSU, UNC-Chapel Hill and Tel Aviv and I have no idea of what football team to cheer for.

I'll just remain a BYC supporter.

Ah, so you was there for the name change at EMU. There's still a few people bitter about that, but EMU has been bad enough that they don't really care that much. And it just saved them from getting screwed over with that executive directive from the NCAA in 2005. That would have never stood up in court if enough schools had stayed behind it getting it tossed out, namely Florida State and Illinois. FSU got the Seminole tribes of Florida to jump out right away to back them using their name. The Chippewa tribe soon did the same thing for Central Michigan, and all Illinois really had to do was retire Chief Illiniwek.

In my book, being that you hold papers that have the Block M, the Block E, and the Block S, you're free to cheer for any one of those schools. Given the recent scandal of fake classes at UNC, I would keep that on the down low as word is that the NCAA is really going to bring the hammer down on them. Then again, they could always "Screw up the investigation" like it did with Miami and let UNC get off with slaps on the wrists instead of reaching for the Death Penalty paddle.

Myself with a BS from Grand Valley State University, I'm just muttering away at how they're just muddling though the season and are out of the playoffs now.

That's it. I'm not watching the weather forecasts anymore. The last couple of days I've had a rooster pheasant hanging out with my guineas, maybe he's confused.--

Maybe your guineas are just easy.

I think my OE might lay today! She is sitting on a nest, with my EE watching her lol :fl Everyone's singing her on

My Cochin and her 'chick' deserve some credit. I had let the chickens out Friday, and was just too busy Saturday to go check on them. I had locked them up Friday, but did no head count. So this morning I go out there and I see my Cochin, Luna, run up to me with her 20 week old chick! I think she slept in my old coop, which the door was left open for some reason. I feel terrible but Atleast she's okay!
