yep check it out the bottle says one thing but check it out I gave my birds the breakdown above with 21/3tbsp/gallon and they did fine...I will do it orally next time...this site has everywormer and everything on it for birds check it out...

Nematodes--0.7 cc (mL) orally, or 1 1/2 TB per gal. drinking water. Repeat once after 10 days.
Giardiasis--1.2 cc (mL) orally, or 2 1/3 TB per gal. drinking water. Repeat 3 days.
*If mix in drinking water, tends to settle at bottom

Ivermectin has lost its effectiveness against at least some internal parasites, a problem that will only get worse with time. Valbazen is a very effective dewormer, give 1/2 cc per bird, repeating after 10 days. Eggs should be discarded for 10 days after treatment, so fall, when laying naturally slows, is a good time to deworm. This also eliminates parasites before winter, a more stressful time for birds.

My birds got dose #2 last weekend, so next week the light goes on. Molting has finally finished up, so they should be ready to ramp up production (which right now is nada).

Caroline mostly just keeps hers out in her sheep pasture. I'm not exactly sure of the rest of their requirements.

Caroline uses hers mostly for sheep protection. Yaks are intolerant of coyotes, or anything else canine, for that matter. They pretty much destroy anything that looks like a coyote. They are basically hairy cattle with horse tails and horns. They are more intelligent than cattle, and easier to 'tame' if you want to put the time into that. The meat is better than beef, IMO (and in the opinion of many others). They do not like to be alone, so if you buy one you have to buy two. They require pasture, hay, minerals, fresh water, and companionship... and the typical vaccines/deworming that you would give to cattle. Caroline only has a few, for guardianship purposes. I have a larger herd that I raise mostly for the purpose of selling registered breeding stock to others who might be interested in yaks. Inevitably, though, about 60% of any breeding program will end up being genetically undesirable. That 60% goes into the meat program. I sell meat as quickly as I can produce it.

No, they purchased some meat from us before we had Norbhu processed. I think they bought some pieces of Bayak Obama, if I remember correctly.

My girls are 10/11 months old. How often do you have to do the de-wormer?

Yeah, she had mentioned that they were for coyote control. Hence why I waited outside of the fence for Caroline to show up when she was going to show me her yaks. Anytime you need to calculate if you would need to beat that critter to the gate, its a good idea to just avoid contact with said critter, at least until there's somebody else there who can at least dial 911 if you don't make it to the gate.
