Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

couldn't agree more Sam. Wish I had a little more land, time and money to add some beef to the mix here. The venison will have to do for now, but nothing beats a good beef steak to me.
Yes I'm planning on coming to CS15 this year. See ya'll then!

35 million cattle were slaughtered in the United States.  Four companies were responsible for 80% of that number.  That computes to each company processing roughly 28,000 head of cattle per day.  To me it seems inconceivable that the animals are not stressed and that it is as sanitary as processing one animal.
Holy frijole that's a lot of cattle. I can't imagine sanitation even being achievable

It sounds like the horse was down when attacked. Which makes it a lot more understandable.
That would make it a little more understandable. just the shear size of a horse should be enough to keep coyotes from bothering it, but if its down and perhaps injured, it would be a more likely target for a Coyote.

Well, that sucks. The Dumbest things someone had said about chickens thread just went off the rails for good and the Mods closed it.

You know. All this CS 2015 talk got me thinking, well obsessing, about @HillbillyHen's Mounds Bar brownies...
So, another totally sleepless night, I decided to do something useful & made a batch at 0200 :drool

Well, ya know, she rode down with me last year and I had a hard time not wanting to eat all of them on the trip there. I've asked her to join me again if she's so inclined but I forgot to mention the goodies.

Or is their not much besides fairs so that's where chickenstock comes in?
CS is primarily a pic-nic people bring things to sell or trade as well but it is not a show, just a fun time to get together with other nuts that like to talk chicken

Another year gets added and I'm still trying to figure out how I got this old this fast. I was reminded recently that getting old is a lot like frying bacon naked. You know it is going to hurt you just don't know where.

that is a lot of cattle, we get most of our meat from a local farm that grass feeds for the most part and growes their grains if added
you sure can tell the difference
