Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Just got caught up on the thread and a big shout out to @BobBry SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU BACK!!! You have been missed young man!!

Welcome to all the newbies.

Just placed our 4-H poultry order for the kids (plus a few extras!!)

6 Isa Brown and 6 Barred Rock - in hopes to get one quality production trio for fair
8 BBB turkeys - 2 will be going to fair
10 Broilers
10 Roasters
10 Fryers
May end up doubling my meat bird order - just to make sure we get a really nice trio to take to fair.
Plus my son is also doing a broaster rabbit this year. And we just added a new mini satin as my daughter's show rabbit.

Next on the list is to sit down and start making the invite list for the auction....looking for some big money buyers (fingers crossed).

DD really wants to do a hog, but she was given the task of researching what she would need in order to do that (ie. housing, fencing, food, etc.) and has not yet done that. I am thinking since this is so new that she is a bit overwhelmed with it.

First batch of chicks will be delivered on 2/25...and since I really don't want them in my dining room, we need to get busy on the brooder.

Stay warm!!

Cheryl

We use it as an indoor riding arena/covered turnout for the horses. It also comes in handy during hay season as we can just pull hay wagons into the arena and then unload them when we have time and help to unload them. Our only regret with them is that we probably should have made the doors another foot taller and wider. 16 feet to the rafters in there.
Yep, now's the time to go out and check your gutters for ice dams and such.
Yeah, now I'm worried. I have to do something permanent about it so I don't freak out when I hear that noise. Research time...

Hi neighbors, I'm not sure how to insert myself into this crazy long thread, so this is it I guess. Anyone else in Southeast MI?

Yep I'm a bit north of you.

Welcome,

Hi folks. I've been absent for a few months, and have been reading along for a week or so. I just didn't have anything to say. But I do now. Our Easter Egger, Mabel finally laid her first egg yesterday. She hatched last February or March, so almost a full year old. I figured she started laying over the summer, and her eggs were brown. Nope: it's a lovely pale green.

We also added a new bird to our flock. Pigwidgeon is a (for real) parakeet that my daughter got for Christmas. Parakeets are strange beings.

Sending thoughts of healing and wellness to those who need them. And happy birthday/new chicks/new coop plans to all.
Congratulations!

I PM'd Wynette (thread starter) and asked if it would be okay to join in with this group.
This is what I shared with Wynette,
I currently live in Pennsylvania. I grew up and lived in Michigan for 29 years. Is it okay for me to be a member in the Michigan thread? I don't have to post a lot, I just have a lot of interest in Michigan still, as most of my family lives there and we visit freqently.

Feel free to share your actual feelings concerning this, I won't be offended if you would rather not have a Pennsylvanian hanging around.
