Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Haven't been on in ages between extreme work hours and now one surgery completed 3 weeks ago and another in less than 3 weeks. A few months ago I lost my dear sweet mild blue silkie rooster. Have been looking locally but haven't found anything. His hens miss him as much as I do. I don't show, but am looking for a correct silkie, preferably an adult of smaller size. My 3 hens are splash and blue. Willing to buy outright or trade for hatching eggs. I am in nw Mich, but willing to travel for the right match. Please msg with any leads. Thanks in advance.

I was a naughty girl, I smoked for many, many years. Quit 8 years ago ~ Yay me!
Good for you!

I am a smoker, just haven't been able to kick the habbit. I have tried everything.

I come and go a lot. lol Sorry. Things get hectic here fast! The baby was born with a heart defect (November 29th, 2014) and so she could not cry a lot due to poor oxygen saturation. She had open heart surgery 3 weeks ago. Doing well. It was a long 2 weeks at DeVos.

Anyway, we want to hatch some meat birds this year. I was actually thinking of loaning the incubator and eggs to one of the kids' classes. Problem is, where do I get some Cornish cross eggs??? I may do 2 batches and one of quail (where to find quail eggs in MI???) and have each class hatch me a batch. I have an automatic egg turner, so it is easy work for them. Anyway, anyone know where I can order some eggs from? Close enough to pick up would be awesome since I wouldn't have to pay shipping and worry about breaking eggs or things that happen in the mail. I live in Muskegon. Thanks!
Prayers for the baby for continued recovery and health.

I've tried and quit many times over. It just didn't stick until this last time. I quit cold turkey 8 years ago in order for me to have brain surgery done. Won't lie to you, it's a very hard thing to do, I still have cravings every so often, but I know that my health is more important. I take each day, 1 day at a time. You will find your moment, just don't quit on quitting

As soon as the weather actually stays warm, I will be hatching some Welsummer eggs. I' m down to just 2 pullets and 2 roosters. Way to few for what is my favorite breed.

...and I was just thinking this afternoon that you need to keep those wonderful speckles propagated.

*hugs* I am glad you are close to a great children's hospital! Hope the recovery continues to go well!

Leftovers are unlikely. Last time I brought in a pecan pie it was devoured. One medsurg unit full of hungry nurses can do that, hah!

The simple solution is to send it to me.  :drool

I second that! ...but I definitely think it'd be a morale booster at work! I have lots of nurse friends, and home baked goods are the way to their heart too!
