Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Morning all:) it's doing that SNOW thing again:((( BOOOOO.lol.
Not what I'm liking to hear either. I have 15 baby chicks coming in the mail! I hope they're ok. I ordered from Meyer hatchery which is four hours from my house. The tracking isn't updating at all. Just the same thing it was last night. "Departed Cleveland Ohio 10:45pm" they couldnt possible still be there. I'm just hoping that the PO will call soon

my first order was early, and it was cold so they lived in the house WAY TO LONG they get very dusty the more they run around

BUT if you have a good place outside after 3or4 weeks you can put them out with a heat lamp and they will do fine. once they are feathered they don't need as much heat and will run in and out of under the light as needed, just like with a momma hen. they stay under her to warm up but run around and play even in the cold, then run back to momma to warm up......
have fun they are soo cute

Nice peeps 55, love watching them hatch

Sorry for your losses, Taprock & Peep.

Birdman, congratulations : )

Every time I go downstairs I talk to my six babies. They grow so fast! I tell them that I can't believe they were all egg-sized just last week. Now everyone has little wing feathers, and tail and shoulder feathers are sprouting. They already look like little chickens to me, they've grown past the awkward stage of stumbling, sleepy chick to fairly coordinated bird who knows what their wings are for and has learned how to scratch and dig. I also tell them that when they are big birds in the backyard this spring, to always run away from anything that scares them. It's so hard not to grab them and pet them all the time! I do handle them a little, and I've let a few visitors as well, but I'm trying to just let them get used to me and handle them sparingly. I know that I can bribe them with treats, but so far they don't seem to like much. I've tried plain greek yogurt, a hard boiled egg, and a couple ounces of thawed spinach. I've heard that mealworms' heads can hurt them this young. Any other suggestions, or do they just need more time?

Yeah. It is here too, so much the dog was coated with a thin layer of crusty "powdered sugar". She was just sitting by the door not wanting to be inside. Crazy nutball. The worse stuff comes around noon. Sleet, frz rain. Oh joy.
Spring, where are you?
well it is a good morning
