any one know any thing about microwaves? we need to replace ours, spent the whole day in front of the computer trying to decide what kind to get. and of course we need bisque to match the rest of the appliances. we had a Kenmore, lasted 4yrs. that is pretty bad in our opinion. so we are looking at different brands

Ours just wigged out tonight. It is buzzing after it's off. Unplugged while I research. Maybe it heard me saying how much I wanted to stop using it. LOL
Mine's a Kenmore too so no help here. Sorry.

Got certified to be an NPIP tester and got me some chickens in striped pajamas!





I only wanted girls, but Mrs. Chickendad happened to have a spare rooster if I got two girls from her...

OH, GRAAAASS! DH and I shoveled off the deck today. Lots of flooding here, but still a lot of snow. Not complaining -- I was just happy I didn't have to wear a coat today while shoveling!

Ended up brining back 20 Leghorns (class testing material

)
As well as 28 Ducklings!! 15, 3 weeks old Rouens and 13, 3 week old Pekin

A lot of snow melted which i'm happy about but not enough to do more then make a sloppy mess. Definately need to get coops built i dont think i am gonna like 30 ducklings living in the house for any real length of time. The warm weather is so very nice.

Cool and congrats. Now what exactly are you able to do because of this? I tried reading up on it but all I have found so far is info on talking classes, etc.

We've thought about it, DH joined a maple syrup message board and a lot of people use wood but many of them talk about an ashy or smoke flavor to their syrup and he wants to avoid that. Do you find you have that problem?

As to propane costs, at least being hooked into the 250 gallon house tank is cheaper per gallon then filling up 20 pounders. We also heat the house with a wood stove so the propane in that tank lasts a long time as it's only used for the gas stove and dryer and hot water in summer.

Nobody that's had mine has ever said anything. I think mine tastes just like any I've ever bought. The massive steam cloud above the boil keeps ash and smoke from falling in. Even big commercial people use wood. If you bottle the syrup and don't have a reverse osmosis filter (I sure don't) and you find a smidge of sediment, after the mason jars sit a week, or so, you can pour off the clear amber and re-bath and seal in another mason. Wood is king IMO. I'm on the maple boards and I've heard the same thing but it could just be the way they do it. A little less "detailed"?

My baby chicks are getting big-and so brave! The one I suspect is the "boss" chick will now jump on my hand when I stick it in the brooder and will even let me move her around in there while I tell her that she is Queen Chicken! The others tolerate me and inspect my hand and fingernails. Bribes of food in an open hand work too, and all six will eat out of our hands.

I still haven't talked to my neighbors. It's been so darn cold all winter, and haven't seen them yet this spring. I plan to start the Chicken Talks by asking them if they like eggs...and I'm banking on them saying "yes."

And here is a video of WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF CHICKENS ARE ALLOWED!!! LOL I swear this is what some out there think.
