Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hi all- Haven't been here in a long time, but I am staying close to home these days as my husband had open heart surgery a few weeks ago, and saw that Raz is headed there too. Taprock was right when she said planned heart surgery beats emergency surgery. It was a shock for him to find out he had a genetic valve problem, but nothing like his brother's shock to be in the ER 2 weeks after a life insurance exam said he was fine. Anyway, things are going well, he is healing, and I am glad he has it behind him. I am adding a pic of my 2 cats and my remaining 4 year old hen.Best of luck Raz. My husband received excellent care at the Webber Heart Center in TC. I can't say enough about how awesome nurses are!

Hi Hickchick. I used to live in Benzie County years ago. I lived on 669, a few miles south of the fish hatchery. I moved to Monroe County about 14 years ago now. I miss it.

The Urban Livestock Workgroup recommendations were published today.

Here is a link to the MSFC page if you want to read the complete recommendation. https://www.michigansmallfarmcouncil.org/blog/urban-livestock-workgroup-report-released

The short story is that this group (with 3 dissenters) want to give control to each local government.
We already suspected that this would be the outcome since MDARD stacked the group with minions from the MML and MiFB and CAFO operators who are not affected at all. There were only two (2) urban farmers in the group.

The fight for the right to keep chickens and other livestock is still being fought.

PS there is an Ag Comm meeting this Wednesday in Lansing. I'm sure that this will be mentioned even though it is not on the agenda.
