Anyone from the Holland / Zeeland / West Olive / Grand Haven area?

Also, I'm new to chicken keeping, and was wondering what you all do with your flock when you go away, like on vacation? Do you have someone come and take care of them a few times a day? If so, where do you find people who do that? I don't have any family in the area so need to look at my other options. Thanks!
Where exactly are you? Those areas are pretty spread apart...

My brother had a heart valve procedure done 3 years ago, and the incision for the operation was smaller than the drain tube incision. Just a few years prior it would have required opening the entire chest.

Maybe it's because I'm getting up in years, but takes less to make me happy than it used to. This morning discovering a large coon in one of the traps I've placed around my coops.

Good catch!

Hi Swampduck, good to see you, hope you can make it to CS,,,, let us know how your tapping goes. I don't have any trees big enough, maybe the one in the middle of the chicken run.
We've boiled around 23 gallons and got about half a gallon of syrup. DH is boiling another 6 right now and has another 1 to add. This stuff is tasty!

I just installed the"pullet shut"door a few weeks ago. Not sure why I waited so long too purchase it.lol. so far I love it:):) got it mostly so when we go weekend camping I don't have to worry if they are closed up for the night and out in the morning. But sure has been nice to sleep in a few mornings too:):)

That's why I'd like it too! DH and I love to go up on M-22 during the other three seasons and it'd be nice to not have to bother the neighbors for a night or two.

I'm in West Olive. :)

Where are you located?

OOOH! HI, Neighbor! I'm right on the city border to West Olive!

I have an automatic chicken door that I bought from a BYC-er at chicken stock a few yrs ago works great,
when we go on vacation I have enough food and water out for a week but have a neighbor come in and collect eggs and check on things just to make sure nothing goes dry, I always test in out a few weeks in advance so I know there is enough water ect. I use the big TSC buckets with nipples and cups, think they hold 5 gallons and I have 3or4 hanging plus the 3 gallon black plastic pans, for feed we have the same big 5gal(?) pails with large holes near the bottom and a mettle pig pan screwed onto the bottom works well

We've boiled about 250 gallons so far. Pretty sure we'll do about 500 as it's been slow this year. I'm too busy with my goats also. Babies are happening and even though I thought I was ready I'm NOT!
