Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I'm going to chickenstock if all goes well. If you can't go, then I can pick up the rabbits for you and you can pick them up at my house. I live in Davison
If all goes well? I'm seeing less interest than usual and some of the friends I hoped to see are not going anymore. Might pass...

If ur looking for chocolate
I have a rooster. A bantam orphington.
He is $20

I might think on it, I really want pairs or trios of each type I have/get.

As if life isnt crazy enough.. We are getting rabbits in a month. Any tips on housing, i would liketo try and utilize my 10x 10 shed best as possible for my ducks, chicks and rabbits. Thinking will have to use shed for chicks on one side with their own run and ducks on itber side with their run and pool and rabbits seperate.. Any input is welcome!! What would agood number be??? We only have 2 ducks now....
Thinking 10 hens, 4 ducks???

Sounds a tad crowded.....think of winter (I know, I know) when planning.
Separate runs for duck water is a great idea!

@dportfamfarm

Sounds like a tight fit.

As far as rabbit housing theirs some options. Depending on rabbit size, how many and maintenance you want to do. Stacker or hanging cages?

Stackers you can house more rabbits in a smaller foot print. But requires alot more maintenance as far as emptying trays and better ventilation. Ammonia affects their respiratory system before we can smell it, can also stunt growth.

Hanging means better ventilation since theirs no tray to empty, waste falls to floor, poultry love digging thru that. One issue with both styles and poultry is chickens like to roost on rafters and dont care if their shooting missiles toward rabbits.

Another option if you want more room left in shed is to move rabbits out into a hutch. The larger breeds and meat rabbits should do fine year round in a hutch with some wind block and rain cover. Dont know about the smaller breeds outside.

Whatever you decide I suggest NOT getting something pre-made from a box store. Their cheaply made, weak wire, often have cedar which isnt suppose to be used. Either make your own or contact a cage dealer who makes them in their home.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for all the input! Thibking rabbits will be in their own hutches away from the coop. So that takes carr of that issue. Hubby is a iron worker and is very handy so everythinr will be built by him. Would the ducks and chickens be able to share the coop at night? Could have small doors for the chickens to their run and a duck sized door for the messy muddy ducks so the ducks cant mess up the chicks area?

Sorry for all the questions. We are kinda clueless
