Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

man with all this rain the mosquitoes are SO BAD around here. I haven't been able to cut the lawn because it's been almost 2 straight weeks of rain I feel like.

Scored myself quite the sunburn on the back of my neck/shoulders while working on the Hawk Blocker 900 version 2. It's basically a chicken tractor :p. I'm building it to give the ducks some outside space.

Speaking of ducks, the khakis are growing up just fine, starting to lose their baby fuzz. They still aren't very friendly, but that's ok. The pekins unfortunately aren't doing great. All the harnessing, niacin supplementing and now brewers yeast, just doesn't seem to be working. One of them seems to be doing ok, but the other seems to be having more trouble. I'm going to continue doing everything I can for them to try and help. Unfortunately access to avian vet is sparse, and financially challenging.

I'm glad to finally have the chicken tractor built. The next project is assembling the run. I have he lumber sitting in the truck happily waiting to be put together. I also scored a screen door at lowes for 8 bucks! they sold it dirt cheap because the screen was all torn up and thrashed. That works fine for me because I"ll be replacing the screen with HW cloth anyway.

Hi everyone, I seem to have a problem with coupe of my girls. This evening while I was sitting outside one of my hens popped out a very rubbery shelled egg right in front of me! and when I was watering the garden now I found another one in my flower bed that had been torn open.

I switched to a flock raiser feed about 3 weeks ago as I had added two pullets to the flock that aren't laying yet. I have oyster shell freely available, and all the hens are able to free range for most of the day, so I'm not sure what else I can do to resolve this soft shell issue......any ideas?

I was out at about 2:30am a week ago with all those bad storms too. Saw the same thing with the THOUSANDS of fire flies & serious light show going on in the sky. Was way cool..

So, last Tuesday finally decided to clean up the pup's bowls & put them away..just couldn't do it the first couple days. As I'm doing it, look out the front glass doors & there's a hawk feeding on ANOTHER of my girls...that's 2 now in about 6 weeks...
Not good timing based on already being so upset about the dog....

@uchytil
Our birthday month is here! Believe we both have a special day this Friday..& a Federal Holiday to boot!

Home with a sinus infection :(

PK, yeah we do! I'll be working the Red Bud National Motocross Race in Niles Thurs-Sun though. It's really a vacation, lol, doing what I love to do. I'll toss back a few for both of us on Friday after I bust butt all day. Happy Birthday early cause I won't be wired all weekend.

Just another selfish plug to say I have a mess of Flemish Giants Rabbits and one goat buckling for sale. PM me. These rabbits make excellent breeders for meat stock, or very friendly pets.
