Hi Jane, welcome to BYC and the Michigan thread

Chickflick, glad your move went well

I use vinyl flooring in my coops, it is inexpensive and works great

Question: how do we keep the chickens comfortable during the winter? I mean, I don't have to install a furnace in the coop, right? (dumb question, but go ahead and laugh WITH me) If Yoopers are keeping chickens, they must be pretty hardy to be able to handle the northern weather, I shouldn't be too worried about my little Troll chickies.

I didn't see any at our re-store today, but you could go there twice the same day and find new things. Home Depot had some about a month ago for like $60. A bit more than I wanted to spend :( I should see if there is anything on craigslist.

seems like it always gets slow in the peak of summer...I check daily, just don't have a lot to say :)

we should post more pictures.

It really doesn't take much to keep chickens happy during the winter. Mine got along just find in their tractor all winter. All I did with it is park it by the garage to block the west wind, covered up the top of it with cheap shower curtains to block out the wind/hold in some heat, and used straw bales around the base of it to block the wind and had straw bedding. Just remember that you don't want to seal it up too much, as you want some ventiliation in the coop, just not very drafty in there.
