Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Love the pics of the flowers and budding trees.

7 out of 11 eggs today. That's the most I've gotten in a while with no added light. Hopefully that is a sign that spring is around the corner.

I got to work on my coop some more this week thanks to a snow day at school and a couple free hours this weekend. Gotta get ready for my new chicks, right Candy?

I Checked some area feed/supply stores to see what they had in stock for chicks too.
Allegan FFH only had meat birds in, as of Friday.
Holland FFH only had Buff Orps and RIRs.
Holland TSC only had Amber Sex Link pullets and some straight run ducks.
I looked, but resisted the urge.
I have a list of 10 different stores to call tomorrow, to see what they have in stock. Girlfriend has Tuesday off and we're targeting that day to go after our buff orpingtons.

Gave the garage a good cleaning today, swept up a lot of crud and pitched a lot of junk out of it. Cleared out a different spot for the brooder tank and even moved a shelving unit up out of the basement, using it for keeping more chicken stuff there.

Drove to the nearest tractor supply this morning. No chicks. Manager has no idea where they are....they are supposed to be there but have not arrived. Call the next closest tractor supply. "Should be here by noon" which tells me that they don't really know anything ether. Hahahhahahha. Mama needs some new chickies!

Edit. So the one store ONLY has st run b rocks and buff orps. The other STILL doesn't have chicks. I'm on a call list. Hahahhahahha

My BOs are a week old now and have discovered that they can jump to the top of the feeder and fount. Let the games begin.

I'm up to 4 gallon s of sap. Small potatoes compared to real syrup guys like John but I only have the one tree. Temp is 60 degrees here and the sap is flowing like crazy.

Did I mention that the rescue silkie has started to crow? The robins are singing and so are the cardinals. It's looking a lot like spring around here.

I called around on my list today to see who had what around me. Looks like I should be going to Chelsea tomorrow with the girlfriend tomorrow as they're the only store around me that I found that had sorted Buff Orpington pullets. Some others had the BO's as unsexed, but I don't really want to deal with roosters from them. Besides, isn't it like unsexed chicks usually run to about a 75% male to 25% female mix?

Slow day at the office here. Weather is too nice and I'm just waiting for tomorrow.

If I wanted cockerels I would just fire up the incubator. Hahahahha. I'm trying to get barred rocks, leghorns, and wyandottes. Best of luck to me for them to have all 3 kinds at the same time, right?
