Thanks all...I got them as I don't want to keep them too long, there is just the two of us (although my daughter now wants some) and I want organic fed chicken. I was looking at the rangers but these were on sale. I'll try the rangers next and I do have my BLRW that I will be hatching, too....

A week and a half ago I planted a 72-cell flat of tomatoes. And then the weather got really cold. And NOW they are talking about the "s" word for NEXT weekend too! I have leggy 4in tomato sprouts here! GAHH!

I figured I would at least be able to move them in and out of the greenhouse during the day so they would get enough light. But since daytime temps have been in the low 40s at best and the sun seems to think its january again, I haven't been able to do that.

I think those a a bit uncommon. Maybe try silver laced wyandottes? Or find a poultry show and see if a breeder there is selling any birds.

They are pretty rare. Where can I find a pottery show? Do they have them all year round?

Do you have an example of the totes?  I always need totes, and always have bags, and never put the two ideas together.

Ma Nature thinks she is playing the best April fools prank ever: May weather in the beginning of March, and December weather in April. Spring is here! Haha! Just kidding!

We have 3-4in of very wet and heavy snow this morning. Bah humbug!

It wasn't more than 15 minutes after setting the bag on the workbench that the first hen laid an egg. The next 2 were patiently waiting in queue for their turns. All the while, I am in the coop cleaning and preparing the big brooder.

Juvenile BOs went out to the coop last night. It was only 36 out when I went to open the coop and check them. Temp in the brooder dipped to 64 over night but the chicks were fine. They are a lot hardier than people give them credit for. They are 4-5 weeks old now. TSC stock that I bought on March 2.
I spent nearly 11 hours at the hospital on Thursday getting poked, prodded, inspected, injected,detected, and ultimately selected. The OR has been booked. Looks like I get to ride the heart-lung machine soon.
