Glad you are doing well, RaZ! Make sure you don't overdo!! Can you grab a neighbor to help you unload the feed? I know you don't have many people on your side there in lovely Garden City, but maybe there is one that has a little tiny soft spot in his heart.

Too hot for me!! We did get some rain, but man the humidity is horrible! Stay cool, folks. Have a good day!

I learned a long time ago how to do things without help. I have a dolly and a couple of landscape carts to move heavy stuff. And I have the yard tractor for the really heavy stuff.
I was going to cut the firewood that the city dropped off but it is too darn hot right now.

This is miserable weather, and we sure need more rain! My cockrels are starting to crow, and act like-- cockrels--- so life will be better when many of them move elsewhere. Next Saturday is weigh-in day, and off to the auction for many excess pullets and cockrels. Time to thin out the group! Mary

What time do your chickens go to bed at night? Mine don't seem to want to go back to the coop until 9:30ish.I have to go out and coax them in. Will they eventually learn on their own? And how old are they before they start roosting? Mine are about 10 weeks and they all still just pile up in a corner.

This weather is ridiculous!!

Caught one of my buffies in the nest box today, and then later on I found a little egg in the same nest box.

would be the first of this years pullets to lay an egg.

The older girls go in a bit earlier, but the young ones are going in at 9:30 ish also. After they go in, pick them up and put them on the roost so they get the hint. If you don't have other hens going in to roost, they don't have the example of what to do. After that, they should go on their own, since they usually like to roost higher up.

So hot. Gonna let turkeys out. Barn too hot. Worry bout meat birds. Young birds so hot too but.

4 fans on too many birds. Can't wait for fair to Be over.

Mine went in at 9:30 tonight. All about 16-17 weeks old.

Yeah, stupid hot. Not fun. We're due for a little rain tonight up here, hopefully the humidity doesn't kill us tomorrow.
