I set 4 duck eggs under my broody tonight to see what happens.

I'll probably put a couple chicken eggs under her in about a week too, hopefully I can time ducklings and chicks around the same time.

If I get any duck eggs in the morning, i may add one more.

she is still sitting this will be day three she gets up in the morning to eat and then she hops right back up on the nest, I even let everyone out to free range yesterday and she was happy as a lark sitting on her egg just watching the comings and goings got mad at our Buck though he got nosey with her

It has been a while since I have been on BYC and thought I would get on here to look for a Black Jersey Giant Rooster in Michigan. I bought some chicks this spring thinking I would get mostly rooster, but was surprised that they all look like hens

. I am new to the Jersey Giants.

A predator took 3 of our 'bonus' Roosters last night. Found all 3 missing their heads but intact some 100+ft away from their coop, not sure what got to them the neighbour says they've had a skunk around their coop but haven't had any skunkish aromas here.

The remaining 2 boys are spending the night in the garage tonight and the rest of the laying hens are tucked up securely in their locked coop as are the ducks. I have a feeling that whatever it was will be back again so trying to make sure it can't get to the remaining flock.

Any ideas on what took our Roos ? I wouldn't mind so much if they had disappeared or had been dinner for some animal but to decapitate them and leave the bodies seems such a waste. We live semi rural with the nearest woodland approx half a mile away so not sure if it was raccoons.

Did the predator pull them out though the wire or did the predator actually get into the coop? Photos of the coop would be helpful.
