Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Baby Goat returned. He was taken. Some good people that saw some shady dealings helped us out. This thing never happens here in farm country, well, maybe now it does.
Good Morning all. CS was fun as always seeing old friends and meeting new ones. I remain the keeper of the "kit" (sign-in book, raffle tickets, yada yada) so I'll have to attend again next year, lol. Bad news though. Got home after a long hot drive and found one of our baby goats missing. Someone messed with the pen door. It was latched shut but a rope was ajar telling me someone had been in there. Posted on a missing pet finder on FB for Muskegon. Here's hoping the best! Did come home with a Banty Roo and he's filling the big barn with his singing this morning. Have a great day all and enjoy this beautiful weather! P.S. Already miss a bunch of you, lol

Such great news!!!
I was worried when I heard you ask Cindy if you should take the "box" again..
How 'bouts we form a Chicken stock planning committee? I know this could grow into a huge event. Besides a few nice directional signs I would throw out maybe the Saturday before Memorial weekend or changing the time to earlier like 8am to 2? Has that been tried? Seems like everyone was pretty well ready to leave by 2pm this year

Great news, John.

Ok. There are other things I was gonna quote; but trying to do this on my work computer at lunch is less than optimal...SOOOOOO slow...

Anyhow, CS 2017 was great. Loved seeing everyone, new & old!

I promised the Mounds Bar recipe to a few. I will post it in my "Recipes" album on my Profile page either tonight or tomorrow.
Ok. I don't see "Albums" under my profile anymore. Still getting used to the "New" BYC!
PM me if you want the recipe!

Have a great day all!

Great news, John. Welcome Dave!!
The park district determines the time. 10-3 is the earliest. 8 would be way to early for people who have to travel a distance. What ever happened to the banner?? Do we know who has it?? Can we hire Granny for the greeter and make sure people sign in and get a raffle ticket?? I enjoyed sitting and visiting. I wish more of the new people would come and the oldies would start coming again. Well, looking forward to John's input on what we can do better.

I'm glad you guys had a nice time and I'm so sorry I couldn't be a part of it! Lansing is 1 hour and 40 mins away for me, things came up and I just couldn't take the drive

I met Sam ( I read so much about RaZ I feel I've met him too:lau) a few months ago, he seemed very nice! It would be nice to meet some of you that have been helping me learn about chickens, so next year for sure I will try again!

If it started at 8:00 I could have made it:hit

Hi Dave, welcome to the Michigan thread, glad you joined in. I'm in the UP.

I was planning on setting eggs last night but a huge storm blew through, taking out the power. It came back on , but more storms were predicted. I am not fond of relying on generators with an incubator, so backed out and will ship eggs instead, and set some for myself later this week. We got away light with 2 trees down on the driveway, 3 on the pasture fences, and many more harmlessly off in the woods.

Yes, it came through here too, albeit, a couple hours earlier. :)
