Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Use to take me an hour and 15 minutes. Now it takes me maybe 15 minutes. It is worth the drive. Love talking to you all the old friends and maybe make a new one.
Well, off to do dog therapy with the folks at Independence Village. You all have a great day and stay cool. It is already hot and muggy!

Anyone else dealing with tiny flying biting bugs in their coop? Not fleas, some kind of midge? I sprayed the walls and bedding and birds last night, and they are still there today. Mite sized, but not mites. Mary
Maybe increasing the ventilation in your coop perhaps? More airflow moving the harder it is for the smaller bugs to fly where they want to go.

Uh oh! Got a feed message that TSC has turkey poults until 02-July. New Hudson location. Not sure about other stores.

I had another hen go broody. I wonder if she would accept turkey poults.
Like I need more littles before I move.:barnie

Oh my we were thinking about getting turkeys too but will probably hold off this year. I'll have to have my husband keep me away when we visit Rural King.

We had the joy of watching a wild hen and her 3 babies stroll through our yard recently. In spring we had 3 Toms and about 20 hens hanging out in the meadow for awhile. I watched them through the binoculars for at least an hour. Soon we will have Sandhill crane babies visiting the yard with their mom and dad.

My husband enjoys the chickens so much he is even mentioning expanding the run. My gut tells me we will add a 10x10 filled with Bantams of ducks next year.

Where are you moving too? We live in SE Michigan right between Jackson and Ann Arbor.

Raz has visions of chickens dancing in his head :plbb

I think I'll make a bid on a place just north of Jackson. It needs a ton of work but I'm kinf of excited about it.

I don't have visions of dancing chickens. I already have that. It's just their choreography that needs work. :wee

If you need to know about an area PM me. We are pretty familiar with that area. We lived in Jackson for 10 years.

I'm going out to see Nova this weekend and hopefully can look at a few places out that way. Coopersville to Muskegon. John told me about a place on his road. But I lost the slip of paper with the road name.

Good luck. We found our perfect little small town area and love it. People around here are so nice that we went through some serious culture shock moving from a city to here. On a good spring morning you walk outside and here our neighborhood sounds of tweet tweet, gobble gobble gobble, moooooo, peacock cry, bark bark and cock a doodle do
