Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

RaZ, the house sold in two days. For anyone interested it takes us 2 hours to get to Chickenstock but we love seeing everyone. The banner is held by the folks that run this website. I believe OPA sent it back to them a few years ago. Thanks for the kind words about the baby goat! Speaking of that, the only reason someone stole it was I had a sign (which is down now). The people across the road are super nosy (in a good way) and did see a truck parked in front of our property. Their grand daughter asked the 3 guys if they needed help because, as she said "they were fiddling with the battery cables. The guys said no. We think one of them walked behind the house seeing the dogs locked in the house and nobody home. Probably took the baby for beer money. When the young man that brought it back told us he was "holding it for his roommates father in law pending a sale" was when we all agreed it was stolen from us. We did not pursue further. If these dirtbags come back they better hope I'm not around. Whew, longest post ever...Candy, we'll talk CS later this fall (and everyone else that has ideas). Even if it's just the usual 20 people we'll still have fun talking, eating, and going home with another chicken, or something

I think I'll make a bid on a place just north of Jackson. It needs a ton of work but I'm kinf of excited about it.

I don't have visions of dancing chickens. I already have that. It's just their choreography that needs work. :wee

The one we showed you? I have Brett working with our broker to look at surrounding counties. Our agency had one just north of us on just shy of 3 acres, looked PERFECT for you! I had Brett call our agency on it, was pending already after being on the market for 4 days ...darn it all.

Wish me luck. I really need my new chicks, ( not really chicks any more) to join the bigs in the main coop. We have an auto door on the main coop and will be going camping for a few nights in a couple weeks. I would like to have them all set and trained so I don't have to worry as much. I shut off their access to the small coop before dusk today and plan to go out and see if they make their way in on their own

Missed seeing you all at CS...but had the grandkiddos!

Raz...houses are selling that fast. Not like the old days where you could think about it. You also have to win a bidding war! I see the young people at work struggling to buy..they have the money but there is nothing available. One young person offered $20,000 cash above the asking price and did not get the place. Market is crazy!

I can't believe I have all my 2017/18 hay already! I never get it this early. Now I don't have to stack hay in the summer!

That doesn't sound encouraging. On the other hand, I'm not looking for a BH&G house.
I'm looking for a house that needs a lot of TLC. Just need space and room for chickens and goats.

Had a nice visit with Nova today. She fed me lunch. Grilled chicken and taters with all the fixin's. :drool

Stopped at TSC on the way home. 4 bronze poults managed to hitchhike. They seem content under a broody Marans. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Ugly Betty is a surrogate mom to these turkey poults.
Main mom is a LF cukoo Marans but seems happy to share rearing duties.
I am constantly amazed at how flock dynamics work

So hubby made a nice feeder and water dispenser, out of PVC, for the new hen house...the feeder works great, holds plenty and the pullets don't spill any, but I'm having a bit of a problem getting them to work the drinking cups, the still haven't learned to peck at the yellow to fill the cup so they just drink until the cups are empty and then squawk for me to refill them
I would like to stop filling those cups for them, but I'm afraid they won't drink enough, any suggestions?
