Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

It is. I'm still waiting for some helpers. :caf
I got the cast off of my arm and the stitches out yesterday so I can manage by myself.

We are a quiet group! Raz, I'm sorry but We're barely doing things around here, and it would be a pretty long trip each way for you. Sorry...
I finally changed the avatar, from a bird who's been gone for years, to my current senior white Chantecler cock bird, 'Solo'.
We've been battling mice in the coop all summer, ugh! They found a way to dig under the concrete, so a hardware cloth rat wall is going in, and generally a lot of fussing to get the problem under control. Meanwhile the flower beds are now all weeds. Never mind.
So glad to not live in Houston!!! It's very sad. Who can cope with four feet of rain? Mary

So we did this today.....

Yes, that shaft is twisted around 270 degrees around. Was drilling out some busted fence post stumps. The last on we did today it must have caught just right right between the post right as it hit a soft spot and the auger just sanked out of sight on us. ended up having to dig the Gorram auger out because it was just that stuck into the ground.

talk about "labor day(s)", literally for both of us... Brett and I are going through and cleaning the entire pole barn in harmony with our recently flooded basement from the heavy spring rains. Both of us are sore. So much for a holiday weekend...and I even took an extra day off to get more stuff cleaned and out of here.

We have lost one of our original hens, Icy the Delaware. She was just over 4 years old. She was out free ranging the afternoon before, went into the coop at dusk...then must have gone in her sleep...found under the roost during the night. First time we had one go like that...she was well loved.

@RaZ sorry you have to do so much moving by yourself...not fun at all and it is quite a distance for you to drive one way to your new house. Brett and I are too far to put in some offer of help too :(.

@Folly's place . Nice boy Solo, is that Walter's brother? How are you doing? Been so busy, not even a chance to use the phone these days, sorry! But hope we can catch up soon. We took a break from the farmers market until this coming Sunday. We had a terrible mite infestation and still battling it. Brett did use your suggestion of liquid spray the third go round. He waited too long to do the follow up after the first treatment, so let them hatch an entire new problem unfortunately but I think the last one had got them pretty good.

Hi Candy, Yes, Solo is one of Walter's hatchmates. I'm keeping one of this year's cockerels, and three pullets, although if Solo is still with me next spring, he'll get to sire more babies! The cockerel is emergency backup,
unless he turns out better than daddy.
Hope you have those mites gone!!
I'm fighting off a massive mouse infestation here. They dug under the foundation, or something, and it's been challenging, getting things fixed.
I may see you Sunday, we'll see. Mary

I'm sure I must have missed something somewhere - Cast? Stitches?
Surgery to restore function to my hand.

Three trips to the new house so far this week. Need to load up again tonight and make another trip. Not sure the 3 turkeys are going to fit in the big dog crate. They are the size of emus. (almost)

Got an offer on mom's house. Just have to wait for the buyer to get the mortgage. Supposed to happen within 45 days. Now to get the rest of her junk cleared out, donated or trashed.
