Bigmrg, how's your mom? Hope everything went well.
Yesterday my Chantie cockerel wound up in the freezer, and he'll be very tasty. Six months old and harassing the pullets, and even the hens, way too much. Now I'm down to three cocks and one cockerel, and it's so peaceful! If the EE bantam cockerel behaves well, he's my backup for that group.

Hope your mom is doing well, bigmrg.
I got most of my outdoor things done. Just need to wrap the chicken run in tarps. Hope it's a mild winter. We can only hope...

Sitting here at the UM Hospital, pretty bored right now. Probably about another hour or so for them to get her out of surgery. Fusing the L4 and L5 together is a tricky operation.

Left the girls in the coop today and tossed in a milk jug full of treats for them to work out of it. That should keep them busy.

Hope all goes well for your mom. I just came back from Chelsea hospital with my hubby, getting a spinal injection. I hope he doesn't have to take the surgery route.

Today is my Friday for work, I have the rest of the week off for hunting. It will be a very somber season for me as it will be the first time since I started hunting, 38 yrs ago, that my dad won't be going with me. He's started having some health issues that will prevent him from going out.

My extra boy found a home, yay.

Wonder how Raz is doing in the wilds of the Thumb?
It stinks being without the web. Have to go to the library in the next town over. Limited to 2 hours.

Hope bigmgr Mom is recovering well. Tricky operation to undergo.

Garage has footings now and the corner blocks laid. They are supposed to be back tomorrow (Thurs) to finish the blocks and pour the floor. Hopefully can start building next week.

Neighbors just love my birds. Especially the big tom turkey. He has start to gobble. Also have a late spring hatchling who is learning to crow. I'll have to get some pictures of him. He has a crazy hairdo.

My neighbor Nellie likes the birds so much that she gave me $20 to buy food for them. I gave her eggs in return.

Good luck with your mother!

How did you set the milkjug for the birds?
She made it through surgery just fine. Only little hiccup there was when they removed the tape for the breathing tube off it messed up her cheek a little. Looks like she'll get to go home tomorrow.

As for the milk jug, it didn't turn out as well as I thought it would. I kinda think it's just too much of a non-round shape for them to shake it around to get the goodies out of the jug, which all I did was cut a small hole into it. Might just make the hole bigger or add another one when I get the chance.

I also think that I fixed my little ones as well today as well. They have been roosting up on top of the feeder in the coop because its about roost level with it being up on the table in the coop. Had a long skinny piece of hardware cloth in my scrap pile and I bent that around over the top of the feeder and then hung it just over the top of the feeder from the roof of the coop. I'll take pictures of it tomorrow.
