Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

bigmrg brought a nearly white rooster, maybe a sex-link (?) and took him home again. I had Belgian d'Uccle and EE bantams, both sexes, mostly chicks. At home I also have one or two white Chantecler cockerels, and will likely have BLR Wyandotte cockerels, right now too young to sex.

It was an Amberlink Cockerel. looking more like he's going to invited to a chicken dinner soon. Especially since Mom caught him finding his voice this morning.

Sorry to hear about your mom John. That's going to be a tough road to go down.

They thought my dad had early stages of ALZ, but it turned out to be a side effect of the Amyloidosis. I am actually relieved for him that he went as fast as he did under different circumstances. He always said his worst fear was getting ALZ.

Raz, hope your back is doing better today. I've been to physical therapy, and going to a chiropractor for several months... finally, it popped or did something during the night last night and I could feel that muscle that's been a rock, finally relax. Such a relief when that happens. I still have an apt Monday to try to get my Dr to do an MRI... almost wish my back didn't fix itself until after an MRI. But since when do our bodies ever cooperate!!

So sorry I missed CS18, I was looking forward to going. I'll try to make it next year... hopefully we'll still have one.

NEED TO REHOME A ROOSTER IN MICHIGAN... LOOKING FOR HELP!!
In April we purchased 6 little chickies, we have 3 left due to sneaky predators. We have corrected the weak spots with our coup and our 3 surviving chickies are doing great! However, our favorite chicken, a Rhode Island Red named "Mama", has turned out to be a rooster! Our city ordinance doesn't allow roosters and he has started crowing so we know it's only a matter of time before our neighbors get fed up with him!
We are quite fond of "Mama the Rooster" and want to find him a good home. He's not aggressive like other roosters we've met at local farms. My daughter still picks him and carries him around with her often and he seems alright with it. The only thing that 'gets his goose' are flip flops - he will peck at flip-flops!
Can someone please adopt our favorite chickie, Mama the Rooster?
We can't bear the thought of him ending up on a dinner plate!

Just saw the Garden City thing ourselves. Had to laugh when I saw it. going after this guy cause a tom turkey decided to call his yard home. the fines have started. Aren't you glad you don't live there any more RaZ

Raz, sorry you hurt your back, hope it heals fast!!

John, sorry about your mom, hip usually heals rather fast from those that I know that have had it.The Alzheimer's is another story. can move very slow though. hope she has someone that lives with her. My brother has had an early onset demensha for 6 or 7 yrs. and if his wife was not also in very bad health they could manage OK.... out of 6 of my dads sisters 5 had Alzheimer's now 2 cousins that I am aware of, my brother and possibly my sister, and another cousin. sure hope they find a cure soon!!
