Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I found and fixed the problem with the heated fount. The wire was worn at the strain relief fitting. It was hard plastic with a sharp edge that had worn through the insulation. I soldered the wires and put a better strain relief piece on it. I'll test it thoroughly before it goes back to the coop.

I was gifted another egg today. It is a medium. I love the variety of first eggs while the hens get their production system sorted out. Looking forward to some double yolks. :D

ETA. A second egg today. 4 in 2 days. :wee

Did you take any pics?
"strain relief fitting"...where power cord enters unit?

Did you contact the company? Just curious if they had anything to say. Supplying time bombs is not really that great a business plan.

No pictures. I just deburred the hard plastic and sealed it with silicone.

I also did not contact the company. The fount was made in China so I doubt they give a darn about quality at all. It is also over a year old so I'm sure they would blame "wear and tear" rather than admit to inferior product design.
