Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I have a Black and Decker and I love it. Lightweight, easy to use, and about the time the battery runs low I'm ready for a break. It came as a twofer with a leaf blower which I also love, was using it today to clean out the garage.

Got peas, carrots, lettuce and onion sets planted in the garden. The garlic and rhubarb are up. Also planted my new Crimson Crisp apple tree - arrived last week from Orange Pippin trees.

Have heard that, sounds good for me too. Thanks.

I won't be doing any gardening this summer. Messed up my knee too much. Need surgery, but trying to put it off till fall. Have a ruptured ACL. Torn meniscus and fractured tibial plateau. Also, right rib cage very sore.
Sure was a beautiful weekend.

OhhBummer!! Is this from a month or so ago when you slipped?

Yes. March 17 was the first fall. The knee was unstable and fell again, and probably did more damage a couple of weeks ago. Then fell again a week ago. Finally got the MRI done, and I really messed up the knee. But, it's spring, and summer. I don't want to be stuck inside all summer long!! I got a bad a$$ brace now that keeps my knee in place. So, hoping I can get thru summer.

Looks like a competition is brewing. Knees are first round. Since I had my procedure, I'm moving to the next round. What shall it be? Degenerative disc disease (neck)? Or low back/hip excruciating pain? How about a side bet of hypertension?

Rather than a hatch-a-long we can have injury bingo.

If getting old is only for the brave! :old We are a brave bunch on here!

Chick - Hope you can baby the leg till fall!
Raz - how is yours doing?
aart - isn't if frustrating to sell to people?

Sunday, I got the adult flock dipped to treat the lice and moved to the white coop. I don't think they minded the warm bath too much either. I found eggs at the bases of their feathers so I plucked them (feathers n' all) out (I felt bad, but birds didn't seem to mind it). At least I could hopefully minimize re-infestation by getting rid of as many of the eggs as I could. I'm picking up some play sand and will add seven powder and DE to the sand box so they can treat themselves as well. I'll probably re-dip them all in 10 days. I'm not getting much in the line of eggs anyway from these birds, my goal is to get them healthy and strong for now, worry about eggs later. Open to suggestions if I've missed anything. Have thought about treating internally as well but don't want to over do it either.

The red coop will be emptied out, cleaned and sprayed with insecticide and aired out and then I'll put down new thicker linoleum (they tore up the old last fall) and I'll put in soffit /hardware cloth to prevent the wild birds from accessing the roof of the coop - I suspect they brought in the lice. I guess it will also be a good time to trim and put another coat of stain on it as well. I need to do this all this week, rain or shine...

Once I get that done, I will be moving the chicks out to the red coop which is where they'll grow out. I may go pick up some more pullets this week, I can already tell I have 3-4 roos with my hatchlings... they have prominent combs and boy behavior.

Was driving home yesterday, there was NO ONE behind me, but a guy in a truck just had to pull out in front of me, enough that I would've had to slow down, but since the car in front of him was going under the speed limit and we were in a passing lane, I just passed them both. Well the dude had the gall to follow me into the grocery store parking lot and make a comment about me being in a hurry.... at first I ddin't realize it was him, but when I did, I started cussing him out for pulling out in front of me. He just left without saying a word.:duc
