Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I don't mind feeding the birds. From the smallest hummer to the big raptors. I love to see so much variety here. I've even had sand hill cranes and I'm working to restore prairie habitat to draw in pheasants. Oddly, I haven't seen the turkeys since before the spring hunt.

I love to have them flying around my head as I garden. Right now it is mostly woodpeckers. I don't put suet out in the summer so the Pileated are missing, but the smaller ones -mostly Downy and Hairy - have figured out how to grab a sunflower seed, wedge it into a crack at the top of the cedar post the feeders hang from, and peck the contents out. It is endlessly entertaining to see these bright little creatures figure out the answer to a puzzle.

I saw 4 sand hills chase a rafter of turkeys off the field this morning. They were walking fast with their wings extended- lol - looked like they were saying "shooo, get out a here"

Meanwhile, the darn fox is making me mad. He's digging up my poor dog I just buried (4' deep) and I've really about had it with them.

I don't know how many woodpeckers are native to Michigan but I'm pretty sure that I have all come to visit.I put out store bought suet; suet from the butcher and crunchy peanut butter.
It's a rainbow of coloured birds that visit but I still haven't seen the Indigo buntings this year.

Score one for me last night!

Good tip aart - will do that when I fix his grave... when I get the time..

I feel like that old stretch arm strong doll! Way too much on my plate! Still trying to work 3-4 hrs a week at dads house to clean out stuff, which we've been doing for the last year, plus an additional 4 hrs. a week mowing her lawn...Plus take care of all my own stuff, work 50hrs a week (luckily not traveling at the moment too), deal with getting the building built (we are doing the siding, like I have time with that) Husband travels alot, I take care of my gardens/lawn/livestock and house.. and she has the gall to tell my brother (who works 3 jobs and farms at home) and I, we aren't doing anything to help and we should be thanking my sister (retired) and brother in law (retired) for all the work they're doing.....:he.... maybe I should stop mowing her lawn if I'm not doing anything. Maybe I should stop going over there to sort through all the junk and trying to clean the full basement and two barns full of crap ... my brother and I so pissed at her right now.

Hope everyone survived the rounds of bad weather. We lost power, but have a Generac so all is good. I know RaZ isn't happy, but the cooler air is refreshing!
