Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I went into the local dollar store the other day and when I checked out I asked the cashier if they had given her a mask she said yes. I said, you should wear it. Even for your own protection. she was on her way to the back to pick it up when I left (I hope)

Yikes! My cell phone just blew up with an emergency order. The stay at home order has been extended to April 30. I'm guessing that my "essential worker" permit will allow me to go to work tomorrow.
Saw it on TV, think they just extended the time, not the 'designated essentials'.

I went to Soldans yesterday. Sign out in front stating curbside only. Phone number posted. Called, told them what I wanted and the young man brought it out and put it in my trunk. I sure could get use to this service! There was no need to put my bra on.
Suppose to rain here on Sunday, RaZ. Hopefully it'll miss you and you can work on the chicken run.
Easter will be very quiet here. Usually the whole family gets together for an Easter brunch at my daughter's house. My son in IL even comes in for all the good food. My grandkids are bummed that we won't be able to get together. Sad times. When this is over, we'll be having several weekends of celebration for all that we missed.
Take care all. There's hope that we'll see each other at Chickenstock. Be safe. Stay at home. Go out and play with your chickens.

Are they enforcing this with spot checks...or is everyone pretty compliant?
Sorry you're stuck, geez, that's crazy.
They are strictly rigid with the laws, there have been people that thought they were good enough friends with law enforcement that they could be out anyway and found out that won't work. People get one warning and if they get caught again they go to jail for 8 hours and get a steep fine. 1000 bolivianos $146.20 US currency for walking and 2000 bolivianos $292.40 US currency for driving. Its a big deal when $600 US is a months income for a normal business man.
A college educated girl can expect to get 2500 b's a month which comes out to $365.50 a month in wages and it's considered an excellent wage for here. Food is generally less expensive than we are used to, except for the meats. Meats are surprisingly the same here as in the US, but it's not nearly as readily available. It is more of a luxury food than a necessity.

There were very few cars in the parking lot when I got in this morning. Start time is 7:00am. You get a 4 minute window to clock in. 6:58 - 7:02. Nobody is allowed to be early. Then we go stand in the queue for the health screening and temperature check. That takes about 10 - 15 minutes. Team meeting is next. My team, (grocery receiving) has been the only team with a full crew.

Since this is a brand new store there are all kinds of things to be done. And we get it done, pronto. We are so good as a team that other department managers want our help. We've built shelves, set up displays, put up signs, and set the prices on the shelves. Everything except the cash registers and fish tanks. As a result, we have worked ourselves out of a job. We were sent home yesterday and today. Next week we are only scheduled for 3 days each.

Part of it is because of the new governor order banning sales of paint & hardware, and plants & landscape materials. Just grocery and pharmacy departments can sell to customers. That's just crazy. A couple of managers were talking that we might have to take a 2-week layoff for everyone who was just hired. That would practically kill me if it happens. At least I got a paycheck for last week's work. Was able to buy a few groceries and make partial payments on my bills.

Looks like adding any new chicks will be put on hold. No work on the garage or coop if I can't get the hardware. I'd like to see the doctor about my foot but they aren't doing face to face appointments. They did set up video appointments but I doubt they can take x-rays with a web cam..

So what is everyone else doing with in lock down?

Well today looks like it is going to be nice. I need to get working on the run fencing. I don't want the chickens free ranging. I'll start after I get back from the drive-thru food bank.

Sunny and warmer today.
Might have broody out there....not sure yet, but am saving out certain eggs.

My girl is coming for a short visit today.
Gonna be terrible not to be able to hug her.
Strange times......I have much to be grateful for.

Yes, we are lucky (and so far healthy!) here too. Family stopping over for an outdoor visit today, not the Easter and DH birthday dinner tomorrow. :(
Yesterday I made the TSC trip, wearing my mask, unlike just about everyone else in the store. The one clerk was wiping off the carts, a good thing.
Then a stop at the grocery in Williamston. Wow! No wipes, no masks, no hand sanitizer in evidence for the carts or on staff. One clerk had a mask on her chin though... At the front desk, a shopper could get a paper towel dampened with some kind of spray, by request. I won't be going back there any time soon! Some shoppers were wearing masks, so at least they were trying to be careful.
I went home, wiped everything down, washed all my clothes, and showered.

It is indeed crazy out there. I went to the pop-up food pantry. It was nuts but the volunteers were really nice, I was 6th from the end but I got some food for me and the chickens. 2 cabbages, a case of cucumbers Got some food and snacks for me too. I'm not too sure about the 3 bags of frozen pork and soy patties. I'll try them and hope for the best.
