There were very few cars in the parking lot when I got in this morning. Start time is 7:00am. You get a 4 minute window to clock in. 6:58 - 7:02. Nobody is allowed to be early. Then we go stand in the queue for the health screening and temperature check. That takes about 10 - 15 minutes. Team meeting is next. My team, (grocery receiving) has been the only team with a full crew.
Since this is a brand new store there are all kinds of things to be done. And we get it done, pronto. We are so good as a team that other department managers want our help. We've built shelves, set up displays, put up signs, and set the prices on the shelves. Everything except the cash registers and fish tanks. As a result, we have worked ourselves out of a job. We were sent home yesterday and today. Next week we are only scheduled for 3 days each.
Part of it is because of the new governor order banning sales of paint & hardware, and plants & landscape materials. Just grocery and pharmacy departments can sell to customers. That's just crazy. A couple of managers were talking that we might have to take a 2-week layoff for everyone who was just hired. That would practically kill me if it happens. At least I got a paycheck for last week's work. Was able to buy a few groceries and make partial payments on my bills.
Looks like adding any new chicks will be put on hold. No work on the garage or coop if I can't get the hardware. I'd like to see the doctor about my foot but they aren't doing face to face appointments. They did set up video appointments but I doubt they can take x-rays with a web cam..
So what is everyone else doing with in lock down?
