Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Both cities are within range. I'd be willing to travel and hour-ish from either. I'd love to get some Marans, some Ameraucana, and some Olive Eggers.
Hi there and welcome!
I'm not sure if it would be too much of a drive for you, but I got my girls in Vestaburg. The breeder specializes in the ones you're interested in! My Marans and Ameraucana's are so sweet and beautiful... and so far the gender guesses have been right! Shes has multiple types of Marans and both Blue and Black Ameraucanas.

No news yet from the specialist, but I do have an appointment to meet him tomorrow morning. Hospital is a good 2 hour drive from here. So a very early start. :(

Had a guy from work help me with the garage rook. We have most of it done but I ran out of shingles. (Shouldn't have used them on the chicken coop. LOL)

My entire property is covered with tiny black dots. Looks like someone spilled a pepper shaker. It's "frass". Frass is caterpillar poop. There is a bumper crop of gypsy moth cats this year. The township did an aerial spray earlier to control the population. It didn't work. I'm seeing tons of caterpillars of different species. Some I recognize and many I don't. I went out last night at dusk to close up the coop. It sounded like raindrops falling on the tree leaves. It was frass!

The chickens have been free-ranging. When they come in at night, their crops are huge. They are certainly eating well all day. I haven't had to fill the feeder for weeks. Egg output has been 100% for the month. I'm up to my ears in eggs. 😁

My garden is doing well. Lots of good stuff growing. I'll be canning a lot if the good growth continues until harvest. I think it will.:fl

My store opens July 9. We should working steadily by then. My department keeps getting sent home early because we are so good at what we do. I guess we are screwing up in reverse. :idunno
Anyway...I am trying to get stuff done around here before I get laid up and have to "take it easy".

Hi!
That is definitely in range!! Could you send me the info?

Hi HP. Why don't you post a picture of your chick? Try to get a clear shot of her head/comb.
Here's the one, my 11 week old Black Ameraucana... I think I already know the answer though. The green in the feathers is so gorgeous 😍 I wish so badly I didn't think this was a cockerel. 🥺

Surgery is scheduled. July 20 is when I get split open again.
I have to go in on the Friday before for pre-op tests and even a Covid screening.

I still don't have anyone lined up to care for the critters that week. The guy I thought might do it hasn't showed up on any of the 3 days he said he would be here. He is homeless and I offered him a place to stay. One would think that he would jump on the offer. IDK :idunno
