Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Lost the old queen of the flock on Sunday. She had been looking a little off lately. Think that she had some sort of infection in her vent and that's what did her in. She did have the occasional issues with an icky butt. She was 6 years old from my first flock. All I got left from that flock is a BSL, but it's hard to tell her apart from the other 4 BSL that I got a 2 years years ago. She got a nice spot by the apple tree.

HI Jim, of course you are welcome!

Hi Raz, sorry you are not feeling better :hugs

KC, you will want ventilation, but not a draft. As Big says, you may need to put a baffle on to allow air to exchange without a draft. I have a much larger coop and keep a south window always just cracked; the pop door stays open most of the time into an enclosed run, but I close it when it is unusually cold or very windy from the north/northwest.
