Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

lots of rain here too. My poor dog does not like the thunder and lightning, I have a quilt I put over him which seems to help calm him. They say the real storm is coming tonight. yeah rain :celebrate

Looks like it's all gonna miss me down here, maybe later tonight.
At least it's gonna cool off.....am about at the end of my rope with the heat/humidity.

Pulled the 2 worst cockerels out of the coop last night,
after watching them double team a hen yesterday.
Nice and calm out there this morning.
One is going to mill today to be 'sold'.
Am tempted to just ring their necks and feed the fox.

So bad, @aart ! It's not really that bad a plan though, so very tempting sometimes.
Rain! It's raining! And I'm also so over 90F and humid, miserable weather. And my THIRD hornet stinging episode in just over two weeks. Hornets under the front deck, also hot and short tempered. We've sprayed there and they are still happy, as are the ground wasps in their nest in the back yard. A friend suggested the old gasoline and fire method for the ground wasps, but it sounds scary to me! Certainly can't under the front deck...

We got a couple inches of rain last night/this morning! :wee

The corn plants looked like pineapple plants yesterday, leaves all curled and pointy. Now they look like corn again. I won't mind if we get more rain; sandy soil here and it soaks in.

After the summer of 1988 (raise your hand if you remember it), I have always tried to be grateful for any rain. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We get ground nest every few years. We use powered Sevan- works every time. After dark fill a large tumbler (solo cup) and dump in the hole. They all go in the nest at dark. Kills on contact. Once the nest was really big, took two nights- two doses, but did the trick.

Should be getting close.
I got 5 chicks on April 22. Last Sunday my Mystic Marian layed her first egg, Thursday my Leghorn layed her first egg, and today my Easter Egger layed her first tiny egg! Just waiting for my Barred Rock and Buff Orpington.
