Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

No hail here, but intermittent rain, and I'm pretty damp after being out there just now.

Some of my older hens are producing zero, but the one year olds who aren't actively molting are producing, and the pullets. I do like to have some pullets every year, too.

Does anyone still have hummingbirds? Up north I stopped seeing our regular visitors around Sept. 4th. Sad to see them go!

I'm starting to get a couple of small pullet eggs. Not sure from which birds though. Older hens are still laying and not one of them shows any sign of moulting. They are over 2 years old and haven't had a hard moult. Can birds have a soft moult? Just a few feathers at a time? I always see one or 2 feathers in the coop.

Soft molts do happen, and look so much better than those nearly bald individuals.
My other five year old Chantie hen is molting and looks miserable. Hope it's only about the molt...

This is the first week I have not seen any, they seem to have stayed long here this yr. Or we are seeing those that are passing through. Have not heard the sand hills either for a week
