Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

What a beautiful day here. About 2-3 inches of fluffy snow fell over night but today is a brilliant blue sky without a cloud in sight. No wind either, which is pretty rare.
The forest was far from quiet though. Several different birds were singing and chirping. Not counting on the 2 roosters crowing.

Spotted this red headed woodpecker up in a dead tree. Not sure if this is a feeding site or a nest site. Either way it is nice to see so many birds here. I hope you can see him in the photo or zoom in.

I stopped at TSC yesterday. No chicks yet but they have a very cool brooder system being set up.

I saw those last year in a store. It remains to be seen if they'll continue to water and feed the chicks. I had to say something at the store I visited, as the chicks were sadly peeping and they had no food or water.

My TSC is pretty bad at caring for the chicks. They have such a high turnover rate that nobody knows what the hell to do. Hopefully they will be better this year.

Thankfully, I've seen the same people working there for quite some time. They also have a couple signs up on the chick enclosure telling people not to buy chicks as Easter decorations, or words to that effect.

Work does have some perks every now and then. They were going to crush this box in the compactor but I asked for it instead. I can repurpose it a brooder if I get chicks this year. Not that I am planning on getting any...just want to be prepared. ;)
