Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I bought this place in August ( a few years ago) and the first thing I did was plant crocus bulbs. They are just starting to emerge. Daffs that were already here are also waking up.
The first several years here, I bought bags of daffodil bulbs when they went on sale at the end of the bulb selling season. October...? As long as the ground hasn't frozen, good to go. And I got really fast at planting 100s of daffs by myself. Two people can go even faster.

That's funny, my crocuses are also starting to bloom. Usually we are about 2 weeks behind you southerners. There was still snow on the ground a few days ago, only a few small piles left in the shade now.

Our crocus are blooming, and the early daffodils started to bloom this week. One of the early viburnums is blooming, and two of the magnolias are almost ready. Freezing tonight, so they won't be so pleased.
Sandhill Cranes have been back; all the wild birds are very busy right now! Bluebirds nesting, need more bluebird houses soonest.
Schools of fry in the pond, chub minnows I think. The pond needs serious work this year.
Horses shedding, more work...
Hoping for a broody hen soon; they happen at random, but still optimistic.

And it doesn't look like this any more!!!

 Is it made out of metal or plastic? I sometimes think different metals "smell funny."

Does the water itself stink? When our water softener quit last spring, wow, did our water start to smell.

Is your "purified water" from the store, or run through a filter on your sink? Maybe the filter is going bad/clogged?
I had bought a plastic one and for that reason I changed to a mason jar. My regular water stinks and I do not have a water softener (4k) so, I buy water constantly for it is the only one I use for cooking and drinking. It would take too many bottles to shower with, I don't have a filter at all. Only store bought (sam's) water. Have to re-think this water mess. Unsure how much it will be to drill a new one and if it is worth the money or spend the 4K for a softener which I have already quoted.

Good morning everyone!
Not feeling as bad as yesterday but not out of the pain completely. Have many things going on today to include receiving my lumber for the coop today. Hope to feel up to the task. My girls are so spoiled. They love eating out of my hand and Phoebe, the biggest one, loves to fly out to get on my shoulder. She loves for me to pass my hand right down her back. I think she is like my dog. They both think they are my babies, :lau When I pet her, she just squats down and enjoys it. I think she wants me to never think of her as soup material, 🤪

Anyways, will be coming around later on. This one must get dressed and jet out the door.

I was gone for not even a day and there is already another page on this thread!

Yesterday was a wonderful day for me. I went to the store to get some groceries for easter dinner for my mom and my dad had me take his card but it kept getting declined when I was at the register. I don't carry my phone with me because I'm not a fan of technology I feel less stressed without it so I ended up using the store phone.

I kept trying my mom but she wasn't answering and then I tried my dad and he answered and I told him the situation. I didn't have another card or cash to use so he said he would bring me up another one. Then I sat towards the side waiting for my dad when the woman next to me who was bagging her groceries asked how much it was and I told her $27.10.

She then gave me $40 to pay for my groceries and I told her it wasn't necessary and at least give her back the change and she told me to use it for gas money and just pass it forward. I was super grateful and thanked her then paid for my groceries. I told my dad and he was super pleased and amazed there are still people like that in the world.

I drove straight to the animal shelter and donated the rest of the money there. Then I came home and got ready for practice where I did great at! Coach said I was super awesome and showed tons of improvement from the previous practice the day before and she said I was on my game.

$4000 for just a softener?!? I needed to replace my softener last spring, $1300. The place that did it suggested I get an iron filter as well, as my water has a lot (A LOT) of iron in it. That was another $1600, so $2900 for the both of them. Canfield Plumbing 616-897-0887.

They're in Lowell, MI, and I don't know if they'd come up to where you are, but I highly recommend them. Put it this way... I'm not calling any one else for plumbing.

Oh, and it was worth EVERY penny. I'm very pleased.

You can get a filter for your kitchen sink for drinking water. Or one of those Brita jugs that you fill up and put in the fridge.

Isn't great to find that things like that still happen and people like still exist?
