Yesterday, our dog Mara had several grand mal seizures. We took her to Animal Emergency Hospital in Grand Rapids. Things were not good, and we chose to say goodbye to our lovely girl this afternoon.

RIP, Mara. You were and are much loved. We'll see you at the Rainbow Bridge with Shadow and Raven.
Sorry about your Mara. Been through a dog with seizures before, very distressing to see.

Teaser! Now that I have a job, I have to delay getting goats again. I do miss having goats around, they are so fun!

Well, I tried going through all the past emails, but there was a lot!
The new job is going well, a little slow right now as we're waiting for freight to arrive. EVERYTHING is in short supply and vendors won't commit to anything. So it's been a bit of a struggle. But, it's nice to be working from home for the majority of the time. I will be doing some travel and then will be on the job site in Detroit Sept- Dec. Wish I could brag about the building - but we can't disclose it yet.

Glad I did get a job, cause now DH's company was just sold. He is good for now, but they will be making changes in Sept - has to apply for his job and I'm sure there will be changes. So far he will at least get more vac time and may be able to WFH a couple days a week. Fingers crossed this is a good thing for us in the long run!

We are getting so many eggs this year compared to past years. I was gone for a few days so DH didn't collect eggs... I have 6 hens gone broody and so I haven't bothered to gather eggs. If a few hatch then I'll pull the rest. I'll let them have their fun for now.

The breeder chicks are growing... I love how the Faverolles are developing, nice feet feathers! They were all very skittish until I broke out the live mealy worms! (I buy at the bait shop). Now they come running!

The blue Sumatra are doing ok... though I am not as pleased with the color or their growth. I have one poor little chick that I swear has NOT grown at all. Can a chicken actually be a dwarf? They sent one really nice Blue that is a gorgeous color and I hope it is a roo, but doubtful. Unfortunately, you have to let the roos mature to find the best one for breeding. So at some point I will have a few Fav and sumatra roos for sale - or freezer camp!

Bunnys are ready to go too new homes. If any one wants a small/med sized bunny let me know. They are mini rex, but not registered and the coats are not to standard. $10

I just moved them to their own cage yesterday but haven't sexed them yet. The last bunny is super friendly! I am keeping one this same color back as it has the correct length coat.

Welcome to all the new folks!

Well, tomorrow is chick day! There is a (not so) slight change in plans out of my control. Instead of 5 Blue Australorps pullets, she only has 2. (Mine! Mine!) So I'm getting those and 2 Jubilee Orpington pullets.

She said that they have been having trouble with hatches, and that it's not just her, it's a lot of places. The birds make it to internal pip, then quit. She said someone jokingly said it might be all the 5G towers, but now they're looking into that as a possible real cause. Anyone heard anything about that?

Nah.
Didn't get my Ameraucana this year because of hatching/fertility troubles.

You were looking so forward to the blues but I’m sure the others will be delightful. That would be terrible if the 5G was the culprit. There is a lot more to be said for frequency waves I’m beginning to believe. I’m excited for you Sally. Send pics when they are settled in.

I have heard this before, not sure it was gypsy moth caterpillars.
I thought I heard rain last evening, was a couple of stink bugs bouncing off the ceiling. :gig

Did they do an aerial spray?
Wonder if you could find out what they used.
My township did do an aerial spray earlier this week. Fat lot of good it did. They spray BT at low levels. The BT is a non-selective substance that poisons the Gypsy moths....and every other caterpillar in the area.
