John Deere’s little sister “Jane Doe” finally arrived!! It’s raining on an off here today. I can play on the tractor in the rain right??!!:gig:gig:gig

@Mfranks Girl, that's a super nice grill ya got there, lol Sorry, I do not know how to talk like the youngsters today but I try. That is a very nice tractor. I have a 48inc Husvarqna and I want to get the plow for the front before winter comes. It iwll make my life easier with the snow at least in the front.
@Sally PB Your girls seem to be doing fine. Like any teen, they want to challenge boundaries. :lau
@RaZ hey if corporate wants to the things that way and you can get the benefit, the more the merrier. Looks like you have a good supply to keep you for a while.

I went to HD and got me 6 bags of potting soil for the front beds. and a few garden blocks. I also got a few pieces of wood and the last wall on the east side has began. I finished one third with the hard cloth and chicken wire. But I am tired becasue even though is not sunny, it is plenty hot and I only go outside with long sleeves. I also did the front yard. Tomorrow I will finish the back yard and get on with the bottom part of the remaining wall. I still have to do a corner to closed it to the coop. The girls are doing fine. Odd that Sophia, the naked neck one, her comb and face is all red and even part of her neck. I caught her sizing a nest box. Hopefully she starts laying soon. Blanch the Americauna has her comb red too but she seems like eggs is not in her tiny brain yet. I am getting 3 eggs a day for a week now.

Question, My first layer, Rachel, she is still laying very small eggs. Does it take long for them to lay a decent size egg? Monica and Phoebe's eggs are small but bigger than Rachel's eggs.

I have not been around much hoping to finish the run before the month is over and since I do not want to talk to strangers in another thread, I will do it with you guys because I feel comfortable with you all. I was told that I am pre-diabetic.I do not want to get diabetes because it runs in my family. However, my diet is the worse. I do not eat vegetables and the few times I have try a sald, it does not go well. I am keeping a 24 oz mug of coffee a day instead of 3 or 4. Now the pepsi's, that is very hard to let go. I changed from 20 oz to 12 oz but if I am working a lot outside and it is hot, I am reaching for that pepsi like oxygen. Since my eating habits are so bad, I have no other chice but to do exercises. A plate in an ankle and bad knees will have to get used to it. This Wednesday I went to a zumba class. It was not too bad but talk about soreness!!!! horrible the next day. ! But I have to do it so I can keep my intake low by burning most of it. Why do we have to get old?:idunno

Catch up later if I donot go to bed early. Love ya all!

Can you find something with less sugar to drink? I drink kombucha tea, and love it. It's expensive, so I make my own. I really need to drink more just plain water than I do.

I have read a lot of bad things about sugar recently. Makes me wish I didn't have a sweet tooth.

I do not eat vegetables and the few times I have try a sald, it does not go well.
What happens? Upset stomach, indigestion? Did you ever tell your doctor, to see if they have any ideas about this?

Are there any fruits that you like to eat? I eat a lot of my vegetables and fruits as "finger food" snacks. Baby carrots, apples, grapes, cherry tomatoes, green beans (LOVE them raw). I like bananas with peanut butter on them (sally pb, you know!). It's sugar, fiber, potassium, protein, fat, and sticks with me for a while.

Changing eating habits is very hard. Really, I do know this from personal experience.

Why do we have to get old?
So that we don't die young. Sigh. I wish we could just age more slowly.

It takes time to change lifelong eating habits. But it can be done, and given time you can learn to enjoy vegetables, trust me.

I gave up almost all sugar and low fiber grains about a year ago. It was tough, but it has to be done.

There are too many high calorie and high sugar foods that are too easy to buy. Going back to raising and cooking your own food is a good start.

And so sorry, but sodas are pretty much top of the list bad for you. Can you substitute Ice tea? Or best choice of all, water?

It can take days or weeks or months for eggs to get up the 'normal'(for that bird) size.

Seltzer water is my favorite drink.....love the bubbles, good substitute when I got of off drinking pop/soda. It comes in tons of flavors now,
most taste like perfume to me(GAG),
but I still prefer plain or a few of the citrus ones(lime, lemon, orange).

I drink green tea, which also comes in lots of flavors, and have learned to like McD's unsweetened iced tea, a very good substitute for all that cola. Now i hardly ever crave the Pepsi that I used to love!
Craving sweets and being too heavy goes along with developing diabetes, and so many of us are at risk genetically for this!
Home cooking is best too, and home made jams can be lower sugar, more fruit dense, and so much better tasting! Try the low sugar freezer jam recipies on the Surejel boxes.
Dried fruit! Yummy!
Add more veggies to soups and stews, and use whole wheat breads.

@aart Thank you for the information. They are pretty ggod even that small. They all had a blast with another frog yesterday. Even the little ones were fighting to get a piece of it.

@Sally PB I know about the sugar in pop and the benefits of eating more vegetables. I just cannot seem to do it. Jeez! I am 60 and it is so bad. The taste is just yucky for me. No offense to those that eat them. I am not sure but I use sofrito for all my cooking. It is nothing but Peppers, onions, garlic, cilantro and culantro when I can find it in GR. I almost liquify them and use as part of the seasoning. I cannot eat raw carrots. I tried them boiled in salt and then with butter but nope! not having them. I can have themin spoup and stews as long as they are thin sliced without a problem. Avocados, whether fruit or vegetable, I like them as they are. Not smashed like what they call it "guacamole" I can eat those with slat or lemon in pieces or slices over any rice, with soup or just plain. I like bananas but not too ripe. If they are too sweet, and soft, they taste too mushy and sweet. I llike them semi-green as they are hard and not too sweet. Which is weird because I can put a teaspon of sugar in my mouth, lol Back in PR , they have what they call raw sugar which is kind of brown color. I do not like that either. Had to use it for coffee once and had to put double the amount. Tomatoes, forget it. However, I use tomato sauce in some dishes and when I grow them, I make sauce and can them. Have not done it in 2 years now. Nor will be this year either. No planting because chickens took over my time for now. Once they are settled, I will do the garden. I see that many call squash a type of pumpkin that I do eat. I put it in beans and other stews. I like yuca or originally called casabe, green bananas but hard to grow up here. I like a kind of potatoe that is sweet but it is not yam. Have no clue as to what would it be called here in mainland but it is a taro vegetable and also known as boniato in other places. I can eat these "vegetables" every day but they are very high in starch.
We eat a lot of fried foods. My favorite are fish but I cannot find them here because of the distance to the ocean. I can find cod fish in the frozen area but nothing compares to fresh red snapper, sword fish, conch, octopus, shrimp, lobster and scallops.
