Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Yay on the pullets! I *think* I have two hens laying. Still one hen to start back up, and my Orpington pullet hasn't laid yet.

No snow here, but
FrighteninglyFridigFreezeForecasted.
I have 14 hens and I have only been getting 1 or 2 eggs a day. I'm blaming the cold temps.
It hit 28 today but the wind made for much lower feel. Going to get even colder and windier tonight.

I got my allowance today so I made a trip to TSC. Resupplied the chicken feed, scratch, BOSS, suet, and bird seed. Even picked up a box of peanuts for the jays and squirrels. I had run out of everything except FR. I can rest easier now that the critters have been taken care of.

I received a couple of gift cards from Meijer today. That will go a long way towards groceries and I can even get a new toaster. It's funny how your priorities change over time. I'm working tomorrow so I can go shopping after work. I'm out of so many essentials. Other than that things are pretty good.

I'm now getting three brown eggs most days; sometimes two because Mocha doesn't lay every day yet. Spice has been squatting for a couple of days but no white eggs yet. I haven't seen Nutmeg squat yet but it might be because she is much less likely to be under my feet.

Otherwise, the big news here is the conservation office tree sale lists are out!!! I've been checking every day. The garden expansion this year is putting in a bit of orchard. The variety selection is much smaller this year, so I might get the trees somewhere else after all.

We want apples, tart cherries, peaches, and blueberries for sure. I'd like pawpaws but that depends on the price and options. Pears and plums are maybe; I don't actually like them very well. I think I will choose everything else as if I weren't getting either, plan out where to put all of them and see how much space is left.

What is FR?

He lovelies!

I know it is late and most, well all of you are already sleeping. I was once going to bed with the chickens but now it is the opposite. I hate it becasue now I do not want to get up in the mornings. Got up today at 530 after going to bed at 2am and by 630 I was back in bed. The girls are not too happy about it but needless to say, it is too cold to be out there. We both love to spend time together.

Sophia, Naked Neck, had not laid since the end of October but in the past 2 weeks she has laid 3 eggs. Monica, ISA, skip one day but on the 16th, she laid in the morning and also in the afernoon. Rachel skips at times. The leghorns are still laying as well as the Wyndottes who take turns. I know who lays because of the cameras. That is why my eggs have the date and their layer's name. So far a few days I have gotten 3 but it has mainly stayed between 7 and 9 per day. P2, leghorn, her frostbite is not bigger which I think it is a plus. The only thing is that she sleeps near the heat plate. P3 the other leghorn, she sleeps in the run and she is completely fine. She is a bit skinny but I figure, she uses a lot to keep warm these days.

It is 19 outside and snowing and the weather channel says that it will be until 6am That will leave a nice coat for me to shovel in the backyard. In the run cage it is 24 and inside the coop is 25. If they were not terrosists and get along, they could be all inside the coop at least a degree warmer, lol

I am very excited to meet you all in June. I signed up on the list. Love you all.

Hi Lovelies!
So I finally went to bed around 4am. Was up around 8am but soon enough, I was back inbed until 11am. I am a complete sluggish person. Not motivated nor wanting to do a thing. Sleepy now but hub is in bed and he will begin snoring soon, so I am staying up again. :idunno
Tonight, P3 was mobbed by the terrorists whom she stays with. So I picked her up foa bit and brought her inside for a few oats and took her back but into the coop. OHG! She got pecked there too, like what in the world are you doing inhere. P2 was at her like, I am the only leghorn in here. Oh, well, they will have to get along. I do not leave P3 in the coop because she goes through everything and scratches all of teh nesting boxes and leave them with no wood chips. She gets under and messes with anything that I store there. The other 7 do not even care of finding out anything but P3 is my crazy add/adhd child, :lau

The terrorists are outside and if they freeze, I guess I will be having chicken tomorrow. Should be ok to eat, right? they just got frozen.....

Anyways, no dizzy spells today. BP at 132-136. Was going to go to drumfit but not enough energy and since it snowed, I am not going out either, lol
Well, good night and stay warm. Love you all!

I posted the first notice of who is coming to CS22 on that page. It's just a screenshot of a spreadsheet I made today. I'll be keeping a running tally of who signs up. I'm open to any suggestions to make the page better. At the very least, it does show the basic details.
