I had another score of stuff from work yesterday. A few wire display racks that with a bit of landscape fabric will make nice flower planters. A couple of trolley carts for the garage. And 9 aluminum L-carts. A team leader told me that those carts run about $600 each. They were going to throw them in the trash compactor but gave them to me instead. Is it any wonder why food prices are so high when stores have waste like that?

I shared 4 of them with my local chimney sweep to use at his shop. Another 3 will be shared with friends as they make it so easy to hold and move firewood. Us old guys need a little extra help with daily chores. It is also a payback of sorts since my buddies found this nice wood stove for me.

What was funny about the whole episode was that I had a brief encounter with the new store director when I got the stuff. She called my Barney. She said it like we were old friends. I don't think she has any idea who I am.

Tomato stalks and debris such as decaying fruit should not go in mulch, as doing so can spread infections such as tomato mosaic virus, which are not destroyed by composting. That's also the reason behind rotating tomatoes regularly, not growing them in the same spot every year.

Hello all! My check in this week
My chickens are three weeks old today (from date of purchase, which was approx 3 days).
They grow so darn fast! They have just about all their breast feathers already. They're doing great. Two days I turned off the heat lamp for a few hours because it was nice and warm here, the sun was out. Once they huddled for warmth I turned it on. The sun started to go down anyway. The girls really seem to enjoy my presence and when I talk to them, lol. It's good for me tooHave a great weekend

Hello all! My check in this week

My birds are not pleased, but managing indoors only right now. The three month old cockerel is disruptive out there though, hormones running wild! He needs to go, not human aggressive so far, but definitely one too many.
Hubby is finally coming home Tuesday, out of cardiac rehab. Yahoo!!! It's been a long five weeks, and several trips to Cleveland. One more trip and he's home!

Do you sell your roosters? I'm pretty sure I've got at least two? They are very feisty, they start cock fights with each other, larger combs and waddles, longer tails, darker. Wait and see I guess.

@Dreamzchaser, I have a question that you might be able to answer.

A friend of mine went to Puerto Rico. She ended up with a million bug bites (she thinks) on her legs, probably when walking on the sandy beach. They itched like crazy, she said. She went to her dermatologist when she got home. She didn't find any bugs on her, and the Dr. had no idea what it might have been that bit her.

Any ideas what might have been chewing on her?

I'd think sand fleas, especially if it's warm there. Sand fleas just go at some people like magnets. I'm one of those people. Some places call them sand mites or sand chiggers. Sorry
