Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I saw red-wing blackbirds at work today. I saw robins and an eagle on the way home. I also saw a couple of vultures close to home. Last year there were a bunch of them roosting in the trees behind my house. There is a pair of crows in the driveway island every day. I think they are a courting pair. I'm going to have a do a bit of research on crow behaviour.

One bird that seems to be missing is the wild turkey. I haven't seen any for several months. They are around but just aren't coming near the house where my feeders are.

Just a reminder...Chicken Stock is only 3 months away.

Yes🤓 wild turkeys. The toms have been strutting their stuff quite a bit. They all cross in the front and then the back each day. 🦃
Our pair of Pileated Woodpeckers is coming in already and I've seen our Eastern Phoebe as well. Last year was the first time they built a nest here. It's all very exciting to see and learn.

Hey yall, so I have a duck that I'd like to take to a vet for bumblefoot that has been hanging on and just other things. Shes shivering a bit and her eyes are a bit red....I'm just very worried about her. I had been treating her bumblefoot for months and had a farm vet come out and he cut her foot open and pulled some gunk out but didn't get it all, and its just been worse. I've tried several things and she has been on too different rounds of different antibiotics and shes been on electrolytes, probiotics, and vit c. I really would like to take her to a different vet if possible. I'm in Southeast Michigan and don't mind if I have to drive to up to an hour or so. I MIGHT be able to do more but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?

Cedar Creek Veterinary clinic just south of I96 at the Williamston exit. Excellent for birds of all kinds! Dr. Wayne Beasley, excellent.
This cockerel is a Novogen Brown hybrid from the Freedom Ranger hatchery. He's going to be larger, and likely will produce good layers. Here he's literally the 'fifth wheel' and so not needed!

Mary, thank you for this information. I've bookmarked it for future reference. While it's not close to where I live, it's "close enough" to be an option, should I ever need a vet for my chickens. I don't know of any in the greater Grand Rapids area.
