Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Been cold, rainy and windy for the last 3-4 days, and will continue all week - lake-effect rain coming down from Superior. Not great for getting stuff done outside.

Down to 2 roosters, 1 year old and 4 month old Speckled Sussex - and it is sooo quiet around here! No one crows at 3 am anymore. When I combined the remaining roosters with both pens of hens, they all just said Hi, shook their feathers out and went about their business - no fussing or fighting.

It has been pretty quiet here too. New rooster tries to find his crow just a couple of times a day. I haven't heard anything from the pullet that I suspect is really a roo. The ducks are always boisterous so I have that background noise.

The cold and rain have kept me indoors for many days now. I'm not liking it one bit. I'm not even going out to work. The grocery store and I parted ways a few weeks ago. The entire store has been going downhill for several months. It was like being in high school with the cliques and gossip. Funny how adults can be so childish and petty.

Winston the rescue pup turned 1 year this week. I can now go ahead and get the neuter scheduled. I'll have to work around the 3 out-patient things that have been scheduled for me. The first being tomorrow at 7-o'freaking clock in the morning! Why can't these things be scheduled at reasonable times? Even worse is trying to line up someone willing to be a driver/baby sitter.

Things were not exactly quiet here today. After the nuclear stress test this morning I came home and decided to take advantage of the clear & sunny day.

My new home owners insurance underwriters did an exterior inspection and said that I needed to get the sticks and leaves off the roof. Then send them pictures that I did the task. It had to be done within 7 days. I never go up on the roof without having a friend in attendance in case something happens. My buddy wasn't home today and it is supposed to rain tomorrow. So up I go. No issues with going up with the blower. Got everything all cleared and pictures taken.
Coming down was the second stress test of the day. As I got my second foot on the rung the ladder went out from under me. Express ride down. Ended up on my side and turned 180 degrees from facing the ladder. Not sure how I spun around, it happened so fast.
As I lie there cursing, the darn pup starts jumping all over me and licking my head & face.

Anyway, I am okay. Just a little bruised and shaken. I'm taking a timeout to recoup. I need to figure out how to get the blower off the roof without actually going up a ladder again.

How are you feeling this morning? Make sure you get your friend to hold the ladder or brace the ladder some how to get the blower down.

Just a couple of minor aches this morning. A couple of bruises are starting to bloom.
Still not sure why the ladder slid. I used one that has claws on the feet. Maybe I overbalanced or something. I think I'll blame these new glasses.
Anyway, my buddy came over later to check on me. He had been gone all day.

One of my ducks has finally started growing the drake feather. Took him long enough. A couple of the ducks like to roost on the wide roost platform. Never had ducks sleep up high.

Maybe this place is haunted or something. :idunno
