One of my 5, my best layer, refused to break. Started clucking and puffing up for 3 weeks, then finally went full on nest mode. That took over a week of jail time. Thanks to @aart's article I was ready for it, I'd let her out, she'd dust bathe, then bam back to the nest and screaming at me in the evening. Now when she's on nest and sees me she whines at me. I joke that its "no, honest I'm laying, not the box again!"

I've had several birds molt and they are almost done. And only one broody, and she was pretty half-hearted, broke on her own. Everything that should be happening end of of August or early September is already happening.

We still have three broodies, and don't need any more chicks. Figures, and come spring probably nobody will want to set. Whatever...

Everything is ahead of schedule this year. Trees, garden plants, critters, bugs. Why shouldn't the chickens be any different?

It's just us silly humans who are obsessively tied to that calendar thing.

I don't have any molting... Yet. I have one of my hens just go broody again *sigh* and egg production is the best it's been in awhile. Good enough even that I'm doing a second jar of glassed eggs.

We’re camping in Covert. Hanging out in Watervielt. Love this area. Rained on and off yesterday. Had a storm come thru early this morning but today looks great.
