Our son is visiting from Florida so we are visiting over cooking better than usual meals. Greek restaurant last night. Eggs with crispy fried potatoes and more kinds of fruit than usual for breakfast this morning. Turkey roasting for later today.

And visiting over games - Splendor so far.

And doing a few projects easier done with his help. Repairing the back steps, mounting the tv in the basement. That might be all.

He started a new job recently, so lots to talk about.

He joined my morning walk and we might join him weight- lifting.. he did a lot of that (the weights; mot so much the walk - he does rowing or eliptical usually) while looking for that job.

First we will be moving our horses (down to four!) to their winter field, and then the chicken coop gets it's winter vinyl wrap. Maybe both tomorrow? Probably not...
The bantam chicks from mid September are doing fine, feathered out, and ready to explore more at the coop. Free range? Scary, but soon.

Finished the roof in our new coop/run today. Painting and all the hardware cloth goes up next. Seeking recommendations for how to seal that top inch with a predator proof covering. I want to do hardware cloth on the coop end (for a little ventilation), but not sure where/how to secure it. Then how to cover it on the run end... Trim?

Wood pieces cut to fit between each 2"x4" rafter, and that still leaces openings where the metal roof 'waves'. Better, but not enough.
Is this structure up to your winter snow/ ice load? It looks underbuilt to me (not a builder though). Maybe add more framing for support? Ours is up to code for residential, because I'm out there and want it to hold up!
For attaching the hardware cloth and woven wire to the run area, first staple it to the framing, then attach wood strips over both layers to the framing. Run the hardware cloth vertically, overlapping the layers, so no gaps anywhere.
