Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Closed up the chickens last night for the first time in months. Brrr is it cold out this morning. I may go back and snuggle with the dogs (my DH left early this morning).

What a strange year. Eighty degrees in March, a record number of 100 degree days, and now our lows are 10 degrees below normal. As cold as it feels this morning it's definitely going to be a two pot morning.

If you pick puffball mushrooms when there is no brown or dry looking areas on them they are excellent fare. I like to slice them, dip in beaten egg, rolled in Italian seasoned bread crumbs and fry in butter.

a hundred posts behind- and no time to read and catch up this morning.

Good Morning Sam- Im off to work already.
My dog caught a opossum in the yard this morning. Im not sure if its dead or if it is playing dead. It bit my dogs face, my dog bit its stomach. I could hear the scuffle before I could find a flashlight. By the time I did, the opossum was lying still- covered in dog slobber-particularly its stomach- but alive. I dropped a cage over top of it. My husband will deal with it when the sun comes up.

My dog keeps licking his muzzle. But I dont see anything worth stitches and I am going to hold off on antibiotics for now.

You all have a great day!

Everyone please,

Do Me A Favor.

You see, today is the 5th week that I am waiting to hear if the chicks I ordered will actually hatch.
The temperatures were so bad this summer, it really messed up the fertility, so there haven't been enough to ship.

Morning all - headed back to the fair, another 60 miles today. When I got up about half hour ago I found the back field in fog and my son attempting to sneak up on a spike and a 4 point that were just visible with 6 doe out there. He only made it part way.

He says within 20 yards but I question that. The sun has burned all the fog off now and the deer have went on their way. Now I am going to grab my coffee and head into town. Have a great sunny morning.

I for one do not consider Lilacs weeds - they are beautiful in the spring, and a favorite of birds all year round. If yo plant Clematis at the base the vines grow up into the lilac and bloom later in the season - very pretty.

Good luck Brethren!

I know it's been unseasonable... but it sure has been nice!
Had some early visitors this morning!

Two doe and a fawn.

Morning all!

Busy trying to enjoy my last week of vacation before I start classes next week. We are headed to the bouncy place this afternoon. Meeting a friend so we can chat while the kiddos jump all their energy out! It is so cool out this morning! Should go out and get some yard work done, but the house needs some attention too. Nothing is going to get done if I don't get off this computer!

All the chicken picks are making me very anxious for spring when I will add a few girls to my flock. I love the 2 we have, but they were just given to us by my father in law. I'm anxious to choose a breed this time... although I'm seeing many that I like. It's going to be very hard to decide on just a few :)

Have a great day everyone!
