Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

. this AM I went down to check her and she has 1leg out front 1 out back and can hardly move,,,,, I am as sure as I can be that it is meriks.... with out spending $80 or more on a necropsy, So we are on lock down. no birds in and no birds out. I am in the process of getting vaccine. it is best given to day old chicks but there is success with giving it to older birds. I have found a homeopathic recipe that is supposed to work, thanks to someone on the emergency thread. don't know if it will help but I hope so.
I do hope everything will be ok

This year shall be very interesting.

Today is my husbands birthday, and the first football game of the season at the highschool. Makes for a very busy day. I dont mind sitting in the bleachers on these evenings though. Its when its so cold and rainy/snowy that I hate that my kids are involved in sports. Other than that, I dont mind. My daughter is in color-guard, so we are at all the games.

Sam-
coffee's ready. Help yourself!
Just reading this tired me out

Slept in this morning. Didn't stir until 5:30. I wonder if not laying down until 1:30 had anything to do with it. Hope is off to her son's house in a few moments to start her day of taking care of the twin babies and helping Roy unpack all of their belongings. They just moved into their new home and getting everything put away is as much hassle as packing it was.
So did this

By the way, we're down to 5 Marans and 5 Welsummers. Two of the chicks disappeared a couple days ago.

Took some plants over to HH yesterday. Planned to help her out with some piled up work too but recent rotator cuff and

prohibited that. Met Snowflake, nice lady, I had expected that. I did talk quite a bit to Brian, Laura's hubby. SAM, He too has some nice 7-9 point, I think, whitetail mounts in a great room that has huge beams of pine taken off their property. Beautiful place they have carved out of an old growth forest . Altogether a very pleasant day. As Sam has noted, there are really nice people one meets on BYC forum. I'm thankful.
Sorry you lost some.
Bob, you helped a great deal, after all if you had not encouraged Bryan to get the bushes planted they might still be waiting to get in the ground

He even got some fencing put around them to protect them.
Yes, I am truly thankful for the folks here, almost like family

They're Here!
All are alive, a few are a little droopy. Vitamins and sugar water going in. Only two stuck bums. And way more than I ordered! 22 all together when I ordered 16. May have waited a long time, but they are an adorable assortment.

Going to have to work on making another waterer though. (Hehe)
I guess that is one way to perk them up

I am glad that they arrived safe and sound.

RaZ, I have a great sweet pickle recipe that stays crisp if you are interested.

To all those that have expressed well wishes and such to me, thank you so much.

Hey, Laura - wanted to give another shout out about how much I love the broody hutch Bryan built that we bought from you guys! It's been in use nonstop! We keep wanting to paint it, but I can't do so as there has been poultry occupying it since it arrived home!

Hot day today, but a nice breeze....loving this!

Getting ready to start my "LABOR" day weekend
he.gif

Chores around the house, help my BIL finish roofing his house and catch up on paperwork and behind jobs at work....

Maybe I can sneak off and just relax for a few hours?

I doubt it until a day changes to 34 hours

At least I am not bored !

Be careful up on that roof! I hope you do find some time to CHILLAX a bit & enjoy the weekend. We have a ton to get done, too - we're going to try to get as much done tomorrow & Sunday as possible and then totally relax on Monday. That's the plan anyway!

Luckily the roof doesn't have much pitch to it, just high off the ground, a day of hard work is well worth the firewood he brought me

I will try to fish a little or just spend some lazy time at home if I get a chance.

Happy Labor Day to all and remember to stay safe and help someone if you get a chance!

When did I lose my sanity???

Was it before I bathed the chicken? Or when I decided the hat and basket were the perfect size for her?

Thanks for the video. I wish my mom still had her glass scorer from when she made stepping stones...
I can't figure out which is the better accessory: the hat or the bird. ;)
There are other methods listed there that don't require tools. Look for the one that you can use nailpolish remover for. Like I said, I haven't done it, but I had that linked pinned in Pinterest.

Wire over the ventilation openings will help keep other undesirable critters out, such as birds and bats
Well that was my interest. I saw another BYC members coop and it had hardware cloth with some serious fasteners on it so that is how I will cover my ventilation openings next time.
I probably would have used screen in the past but now I suspect that won't keep out predators because of the stories on this site.
