Got a question though. The weather has told us without a doubt this past week that fall is definitely on the way. I was wondering at what point, date, temperature, do some of you start closing up the windows, installing your winter walls on your coops? I need to make my windows for most of my window openings, and need to make sure I have enough time to do so before the need is actually upon us.
Had a good trip today. It's always a plus to bring home one less bird than you took! Our new addition has been named Cotton. Had a nice time visiting and eyeballing birds. My trip back I saw two deer, two coyote and two rainbows. Stopped at Jay's at the wrong time as it was crawling with hunters, and didn't find the two things I wanted.
Tonight my son got a doe. His face says it all. There was no complaints from him that there wasn't horns involved. He and dad are off showing it off now. On my way out to the field to pick them up I was treated to yet another rainbow, this one full and double.
AWWWWWWWww!!! Congratulations to your son!!
I remember my first deer as well... actually,,,,,,, I remember just about all the deer I've taken...or not.. over the last 33 yrs hunting. It's like a holiday at our house (st. antlers day) Though it isn't about the head gear, that's just a bonus. I enjoy the time it's given me with my DF and sister and getting out in the woods.
Why is that, mine lay at night also thought they stopped laying all together until i found they had a new hiding spot found about 20 eggs there LOL sneaky lil girls
A few more photos from the Up North Poultry Fest! Yes it was cold and breezy and a bit rainy but every time the sun came out we'd go outside the pavilion and stand in it! By the times we were leaving after 2 pm the sun was staying out more often than not. Food was good, there was chili and lasagna, broccoli-cheese soup, little sandwiches, chips, brownies, lemonade. I think hot cocoa would have been really nice lol!. Fun to see and meet those who came, looking forward to doing it next year!
Sorry I missed the CS. But, it reminds me of our first one. It was just a handful of folks that I don't even see on the forum anymore. Had it out in Potterville, but it was a great start to what our CS has become!! Hopefully, I'll be able to make it next year. The park looks beautiful!
It's a bit chilly out there today. So, I'm staying in and cleaning. It's going to be a busy week, and have to get ready to take my five young (6-9) grand daughters camping this week end!! I'm excited to have lots of fun with them.
I've stuffed my egg eater in a wire bottomed dog cage to break her from being broody. So she doesn't really have access to laid eggs for the moment. I'll try her with mustard soon enough.
