Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

the cheapest place I found hardward cloth was Menards (if you have one near you). We were getting 2x50 rolls for $10/roll all summer. It was their store brand, not the yardworks. They were clearancing it out this fall, but they may still have a few rolls left. It was that price almost the entire summer so you can plan ahead.

When we do meaties in the spring I'm probably going to build some tractors out of what we have left.

Closest Menards is 45 minutes away. :/ But HOLY cow that is cheap!!!! It was cheaper at Family Farm and Home, but still much more expensive than chicken wire...I think I could get a 3x50 chicken wire there for $34.99 but hardware cloth the same size was $49.99 and it was more expensive than that at Home Depot...and TSC was the same price as HD. :/

Thanks chickflick!!!

We need a new roof on our coop and we are getting crazy high estimates, it's so frustrating because we can do it, we just don't have the time or daylight hours to do it, it's so annoying. Hmmm first world problems I know.

It was so much easier before all of my friends had 5 or 6 kids, we could all get together and knock out a project pretty quick.

I found out my friends hens aren't even banty's she gave me some eggs because we are so low and her eggs were half the size of mine, she said they are 5yo and not banty's one was even a RIR which is what I have, a mystery for sure :)

So please send some good weather vibes, since we might be roofing on Sat.

what about doing metal? it's about the same price as shingles, and goes up a LOT faster.....DH and I roofed our new coop (10x16 with a 6/12 pitch) in a few hours.

Metal roofing is the route we went on our coop and donkey barn. Goes up much faster and lasts nearly forever if maintained.

Just sold the last of my ducklings for the year. Sold all my adults on Sunday. Only kept the best looking ducklings. That's over 20 ducklings plus the adults all sold in the last week and a half! Wow!

When I had broken my leg they told me to eat lots of jello. They claim it promotes joint health and bone growth...

Oooooh. Okay. lol

Comic I was talking about. I guess it's kind of long, but I love it because it hits so close to home. :p I also like being able to use it to gently remind my husband that he is a pansy instead of simply getting ****** off that he can't do anything while sick, like, not even take care of himself, let alone help with anything or anyone else. Yet somehow I am expected to be able to carry on with all the child care and house work and etc. while I have the same thing. He's in the clear for the most part if he gets sick first, but if I have just been through it, or, worse, still am going through it and dealing with everything while he rolls around moaning, I get so angry. Post-comic he is able to actually recognize this fact, even if he is still a wimp, and now pretty much always tells me, "I must have a stronger, mutated version of the virus." lol

Butternut squash soup I have been making this year. It is soooooo good!! I made this vegan using Litelife vegan "Ham", veggie stock instead of chicken, soy creamer, and margarine. So you can still do it if you are vegetarian. :) I didn't use as much "ham" as the recipe called for, probably about two thirds, and it was plenty.

My DH is sweet to me when i'm down, brings me food and liquids, does his own cooking..........but we don't have kids.

Anything extended, we are in for issues. I twisted my ankle a couple years ago, and he thought i would limp it next door to get it washed with a cane...........Ummm no. Then he was gonna carry it so i could hit the buttons. Are you kidding me???! So it didn't get done, i was so mad when i got better i still made him do a load!!! I think he nurses me out of fear of having to sub for my cleaning duties. :D

He gets sick, not much change around here, lol. I make some soup and give him something gentle for to eat, he abhors medicine. Makes for a few grumpy days, i let him mess with the tv and give plenty of space...................
