Thank you miss-jayne but no thank you. I raised a couple of hundred chicks last winter and spring and won't do that again. I got really really sick with the hatching bug last winter and just couldn't kick it. Now I have the antidote to this terrible condition so it won't happen again. I put 2 eggs under a broody just to test fertility. The ma hen was suppose to take care of the 2 chicks. When the hatching time grew closer, 2 other hens went broody and the 3 of them kept fighting over the eggs. The first chick to hatch got caught up in the fighting and lost it's precious life. I tried to give the second chick to the original broody but she said she had had enough and chased it away. The second broody said no way also and the third broody is so far into her trance that she won't get off the nest to care for a chick. So this poor little chick is feeling unwanted and all alone.
It has a stuffed fluffy bear to help keep it warm but needs a wonderful loving new mom to see to all it's needs and some cheeping little sisters and brothers to play with.
I keep telling the cute little peeper that someone will come along and give it a great home with sisters and brothers.
