I am looking for that place too Jean. Oh yeah, not too hot or humid either, not to expensive, not too many bugs (cockroaches, chiggers, ticks oh my!), don't like hurricanes or earthquakes, or those big floods, dang it, Michigan is sounding better and better! UGH! Jean, it is much milder winters in southern Michigan than the UP. I know we used to live in the northern Michigan in the snow belt and got pelted, our snow fall was often higher than the U.P. We moved down to southern Michigan and it was wonderful for the first 10 years. Now I am ready to move further south!!

i just met a super nice BYC'er...vkulesh! he brought our family a lovely goose.

in a few weeks we will take his family some barred rocks.

thank you, vkulesh for the delivery and it was such a pleasure to meet you!

Yeah, the sunshine today is gorgeous on the snow! Even my 3 muscovies flew onto the pond, probably hoping it had thawed!

I'm letting my guineas and chickens free range today (the new puppy went home with my sister today), they're all squawking up a storm.

I love Michigan!

Hi All,
Lost my only Brahma hen and a chick to a wandering cat the other day. That hen was my pride and joy. We set a live trap and then caught the cat two days later. Today a big hawk decided to make a meal out of my chickens too. Poor little critters. They were really clucking up a storm! Took them awhile before they wanted to go back outside.
This weather is so crazy. Freezing rain is supposed to be coming in. Guess I will just stay inside where it is nice and warm.
Have a great day everyone!!! Myrna

Good morning all my fellow Michiganders. I hope you all are being very careful this morning. The ice is treachous. I found out the hard way that everything is ice.
Anyway, I have 1 lone rosecomb RIR chick that hatched this morning. It needs a new home with other chicks. If someone is willing to come get it, it is free. Lone chicks don't do well and are deffinately not happy. It comes from show stock parents. I will hang on to it until this ice clears up and it is safe to travel. I live in Springport, 49284 which is just south of Eaton Rapids. PM me or eamil me if you are interested.
Thanks,

Wild weather swings.

Spring is just around the corner.

Hope everyone had a Happy New Year.....I spent mine in the U.P. visiting family and friends.

Hens are still laying, but looking at getting more chicks in a few months.....see what you people started?

Yeah, everyone be very careful. Granny let her little bichon out this morning and it slid off the deck and down four step to the landing before it could get stopped. I'm surprized that Granny didn't immediately go down to check it. The dog got up unhurt and very cautiously eased her way down the remaining steps. So when I went out to let the Welsummers out I was forewarned.
